Scalp & Feet
hello to all, I am still at the relative early stages of my scleroderma journey and beginning to notice red patches on my scalp and feet that come and go - I am never to sure if this is disease related or medication side effects (
mycophenolate
& prednisolone).

Brother in hospital with pulmonary fibrosis
He was on
mycophenolate
but the side effects were intolerable. I'm so worried. I think he has been protecting me re the severity of his condition. Google has been my friend but the information was not very positive. Decided to speak to his consultant and now feeling devastated.

Update - starting prednisolone & mycophenolate - any tips?
I'm starting on prednisolone for 4 weeks and
Mycophenolate
for 6 months. I've not taken steroids or any other DMARDs except HCQ in the 7 years since I was diagnosed. I'm a bit scared, any tips to manage side effects? I work in schools, I'm worried about infections, should I be worried?

SLE patients may have reduced response to COVID-19 vaccination
The use of the immunosuppressant medications CellCept (
mycophenolate
mofetil), tacrolimus and Benlysta (belimumab) significantly reduced IgG levels after vaccination.

I take
mycophenolate
mofetil 500 mg and I’m at the stage where I’m planning on getting pregnant in a few years time. I know the drug I’m currently on isn’t good during pregnancy so in that case will have to change it at some point.

Impact on your life by taking immunosuppressants?
After my 6m follow up with Professor Denton, he advised I start with hydroxychloroquine (for 4m until my baby is weaned off the breast when he is 12m old) and then straight onto
mycophenolate
. I'm curious whether you've had to make adjustments around your life being on immunosuppressants.

Study: Depression is largely prevalent, but undiagnosed in SLEResearchers in Pakistan surveyed 40 people with SLE using PHQ-9 scale
All were taking hydroxychloroquine and 16 (40%) were taking
mycophenolate
mofetil, 15 (37.5%) azathioprine, and three (7.5%) methotrexate. Most (72.5%) were on a maintenance dose of prednisolone. More than half (65%) had severe disease.

Steroids and
Mycophenolate
ineffective at managing platelets. Platelets are now managed with Eltrombopag with a count in the 60's. CLL is slowly returning. Lymphocytes now 11. Current plan is to see how long Eltrombopag lasts and then look around for options ... not sure what?

Got covid - when test turns negative?
My transplant team stopped my
Mycophenolate
for 5 days and started me on anti viral for 5 days. Dr. spoke to me after 5 days and asked me to start back the
mycophenolate
. I had/have no other symptoms. I have been doing well except for very light running nose.

Not sure what to do …
Now the choice is between Azathiopine or
Mycophenolate
. I’m not sure which one to choose and I’m afraid I might react to them. My mum is vegan and she insists I manage the lupus by changing my diet. I’m just so frustrated right now not sure what to do.

If I get this again when I resume the Lef. they want me to try something else 😧 probably
mycophenolate
and Im not keen to do it. I have had this before several times and I had an idea yesterday that it was acid related.
