Magnesium with heart meds?
I am a 62-year-old female and had an ablation for afib and aflutter December 29, 2017. I was born with a congenital heart defect (hole in my heart), but I had surgery at 5 years old to correct it. I have led a fairly normal and active life prior to November of last year when these symptoms occurred.

Latest Checkup
Just had my latest check up almost 1 year after my ablation last year in Bangkok. EP was satisfied, ECG and blood results were ok. Was changed from Labetalol to metoprolol 100mg once a day in the morning (mainly because Labetalol was out of stock-very lucky). Feel much more energized and HR is down to

How slow can we go?
This is probably a doctor question, but it is Good Friday, so decised it can sit til monday. Just curious, Im just on PIP for my PAF. ( after much disagreement between cardiologist and EP, EP won the PIP debate). As my blood pressure is creeping up a little, they both agreed to put me on low dose metoprolol

Had an EP Appointment Today
I had an appointment with an EP today to discuss where to go next. He did an EKG (ECG in UK) and said I was in afib, which was a shock to me as I'd been feeling great all week with no symptoms whatsoever. Made me wonder how long I'd been in afib as you can imagine! We talked about ablations and he said

Daily vs PIP dosing
I was diagnosed 2 yr ago with a fib, put on sotalol by local cardiologist. After 4 mo of complaining about sotalol, finally sought second opinion and saw EP. He took me off sotalol and gave me flecainide/ metoprolol as PIP. This worked great, only 4 short episodes (2-3 hr) in 2 yr untillast week. I had

I'm new here, I was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and leaky valves as a teenager in 1963. I was also diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation in 2008 after feeling fatigued and having a heart rate around 110. I underwent cardioversion and was prescribed Metoprolol, this kept my heart rate around 55. I

Heart arrhythmias, especially when tired
I'm new to this site and am glad to see posts relating to AFib and other people's experiences. I have been diagnosed with sick sinus node and have a pacemaker and take flecainide for AFib along with Metoprolol. I also have SVT. Lately I have been having crazy arrhythmias that seem to be worse when I

Metoprolol
I've been on sotolol for a few years now with no problems (besides it not completely con trolling my Afib.) I was recently put on metoprolol as well. I'm experiencing chest tightness and shortness of breath. Do these side effects eventually go away? Will the body acclimate? Thank you

Vagal AF, Omeprazole and Metoprolol
A Dr.Gupta video recently appeared on this site. It suggested if you have vagal AF then treating the stomach problem may help the AF. I told my new local GP who suggested doubling my Omeprazole for the treatment of my reflux. I then started taking 2*20mg first thing in the morning but that didn't influence

AFIB
Woke up in AFIB today. It always hits when I wake up..HR 132. Dr says I can take another metoprolol and then wait to see if it clears up. It did but still lightheaded. Has anyone else been advised to do this?

Scheduled an Appointment with an EP
Appointment on March 27th, though I'm on the cancellation list so it might be sooner. How many visits to the EP does it usually take to convince them you're a good candidate for an ablation? Does it differ person to person? I went for a visit to my cardiologist early last week, as I'd been in AF for

drop in blood pressure???
this morning, I experienced what I believe to be a drop in my blood pressure. I got very dizzy and started sweating. Felt like I was going to pass out. I take metoprolol. It happened about 20 minutes after I took my medicine. very scary!!!! Then once I stopped sweating I felt a coolness run through

Is it possible my afib going away?
Maybe this is not realistic? I was diagnosed 5 months ago. Had four episodes in the first three months. All happened during i was sleeping. Then I realized metoprolol shouldn’t be prescribed to vagal afib and weaned off it. Also I added a cocktail of supplements and exercise daily. I also do some stretches

Warfarin results and af meds
I am currently taking warfarin for mechanical heart valve replacement and have developed AF persistent since having a mallory weiss tear in dec. I had my meds changed last week for the af to bisoprolol and digoxin. Just had warfarin check and its jumped up quite high could this be as a result of changing

Pulsing Pain on Right Side of Chest
I've noticed since I went on the Metoprolol I keep feeling a sharpish pulsing pain in the right side of my chest. It's a very discrete pain, and seems to be related to pulse, but it's on the right side. Literally in my right chest area. Is it some side-effect of beta blockers?

Is my reasoning reasonable?
Hi everyone! I have a follow-up/reevaluation appointment with my cardiologist this week and as he is usually in a hurry I'm trying to organize my thoughts before I get there. Here's the thing: I was diagnosed with paroxysmal AF a few years ago, and told to take an aspirin a day. Then 18 months ago
