Potassium interaction with meds
Hey all I have been doing tons of research on supplements to help with AF recently and of course have also been researching side effects that could be caused by my meds so I am not doing anything I shouldn't. I'm on Amiodaron, Metoprolol, Plavix, Crestor and thought I read that potassium has a bad

How do I slow a rapid heart rate?
I was diagnosed August 2014....but had a "heart racing" episode in 2005 and periodically since then. It become much more intense in August and I was sent to ER and was five days in hospital in August. Heart rate in hospital was 130-135. Put on Metoprolol 250mg which did nothing but make me feel worse

Metoprolol or Bisoprolol?
At my follow up at the JR in Oxford following my 2nd ablation, it was recommended that I take a combination of Flecainide and, initially, Bisoprolol. As I have been off this since last October I was reluctant to take it up again, so the doctor prescribed Metoprolol. My question is, having read all

I am 53 and on 200mg per day of Amiodarone, 100 mg Metoprolol, Plavix 10 mg and a few other bits and pieces. MY AF started when I attended an exercise bootcamp for 3 weeks. It was fantastic until I started reducing my heart meds so I could get my HR up and one day I succeeded TOO well and my first

Flecainide as Pill in Pocket
I've just started taking Flecainide as a pill in the pocket and am amazed at how quickly I revert to sinus rhythm. Could other members who do the same please let me know the dose they take and how long they take it for to make sure that it's really stopped their heart racing. Also do you take other control

Pomegranate Juice
I copied the following from the MedlinePlus website. Sorry for the long post but I thought some might find it interesting that one juice can impact so many things. How can anyone know what drugs or supplements really do to each of us since we are all physically different, eat differently, etc.? I

My Heart has Been Racing for 5 days non stop...
...now. It started in the early hours of Friday morning and I managed to bring my heart rate down lots with the valsalva maneuver. However, with the help of medication I've now brought it down to around 105. I can do light jobs around the house but can't walk very far without making myself feel ill.

Is my rate too high for too long?
I'm in persistent AF since June of this year....and have finally agreed to all recommended meds. Since taking amiodarone beginning just over three weeks ago, my heart rate became nicely regular, but the rate went from 110 or so to 130-135....consistently all day and all night. Bisoporol apparently is

Is it possible that resting is a trigger for aFib?
Hello again! So, last week my cardiologist put me on a 48 hour monitor to double check that I have aFib before possibly pursuing an ablation. So this is the last step before having that serious discussion. Just to review, I am 53-years-old and normal weight with no other conditions. They think I

Don't know where to turn...
I am 53 years old, female and have had bouts of aFib for many years. Fortunately, the aFib episodes were infrequent but I did go to the hospital a few times over the years to convert. My cardiologist said not to worry and everything else was fine. Six months ago I was given a "pill in the pocket"

Sotolol nightmare
I was diagnosed 4 years ago with A FIB during a time when I was on a strong antibiotic for a severe leg infection. After an attempt at conversion I was put on sotolol and warfarin. These were added to the metoprolol I was on for Hocum. Lisinopril was added for blood pressure and things went fine to

Bisoprolol as a 'pill in the pocket'
A few weeks ago when admitted to hospital with my pulse at a constant 160, they treated it with Metoprolol and it soon went back into normal sinus rhythm. I thought it strange that they had prescribed this drug as a few years ago, when I was again in hospital with constant tachycardia they overdosed

Been in hospital
My heart took off racing earlier in the week and my GP called an ambulance and I was admitted to the cardiology ward of my local hospital. While in A&E I was given magnesium by drip and it didn't agree with me at all. I felt like a hot rushing through my veins and then started to very slowly pass out
