this morning, I experienced what I believe to be a drop in my blood pressure. I got very dizzy and started sweating. Felt like I was going to pass out. I take metoprolol. It happened about 20 minutes after I took my medicine. very scary!!!! Then once I stopped sweating I felt a coolness run through my body almost like a menthol sensation. Has anyone here ever experienced any thing like this before? Thank you!

drop in blood pressure???
Hi Angie, yes I had a similar experience once.
It was a few years ago and I hadn't been out of bed long when I suddenly thought I was going to pass out and started feeling extremely hot and sweaty. I had to fight to stay conscious for about half an hour and managed to dial the 111 NHS number who sent an ambulance. The fault was my heart beating at a crazy rate When the paramedics came they were astonished that the beat in my wrist was nothing like how fast my heart was actually going.
My sister was holidaying nearby and she came to my house, she's 10 years younger than me. Now here's the bit she loves and likes to recall. Is this your daughter, the paramedics asked. I can tell you I soon put them right! Off I went to hospital where I was admitted, my sister came along later and a nurse asked if she was my daughter. In my defense, my sister had her make up on and I didn't.
What made you think that the way you were feeling was to do with your blood pressure and how long did the feeling last with you? I don't recall having a coolness run through my body at any time then, but I have had short episodes where like a ripple of darkness sweeps over me and just when I think I'm going to pass out, I come back.

THIS MORNING IT SORT OF MIMICKED LOW BLOOD SUGAR, BUT THE THING IS, I WAS ACTUALLY EATING BREAKFAST WHEN IT CAME ON AND MY HEART NEVER RACED LIKE IT DOES WHEN MY SUGAR DROPS. I FIGURED LATER THAT IT WAS MOST PROBABLY MY BLOOD PRESSURE SINCE I TAKE METOPROLOL. WHICH I HAD JUST TAKEN 20 MINS PRIOR TO EPISODE. VERY SCARY FOR SURE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY. ANGIE
Oh my gosh, I thought I was nuts feeling that menthol sensation one minute and hot the next. It happens right after I take metroprolol as well. It lasts for about 15 minutes then slowly goes away. I’m on 25 mg extended release. I had an ablation for AFib and Aflutter six weeks ago and struggling to feel better. I wish I didn’t have to work. I walk a lot on my job and sometimes feel unbalanced when I walk.
I think you both need to consider changing from metaprolol to something more cardio specific like nebivolol. Something doesn't sound quite right currently.
thank you
