Hi, I haven't been on the site for a while because the RLS is better. However I have interproximal gaps at the top of and in-between my teeth. Does anyone know if this is a side effect ? I'm on Ropinerole, metoprolol, Xanax, Bupropion, Levothyroxine. Is it a side effect from a drug, overbite, grinding my teeth.Im afraid I'm going to loose my teeth. The dentist said she did not know and of course recommend surgical skin graft s.Very expensive on 6 teeth.I have good dental hygiene and have never had gum trouble.Im 63. I don't even know what kind of doc I should see.I first noticed it when I started Ropinerole.. side effect??? Sould I stop Ropinerole and go on Gabapentin??? Please advise.

The most likely reason for interproximal gaps opening up is bacterial acid from a sugar rich diet. A sugar rich diet could also be the cause of your rls. Sugar has zero nutritional value, so cutting it completely from the diet will have no detrimental effect.

Also I've been on a ketogenic diet that's really difficult to maintain. The main sugar they suggest us stevia.

Although I have no experience of stevia, I gather that stevia does not cause tooth decay, but will increase blood sugar levels, so it won't help rls. It is better if you can wean yourself off sweeteners of any kind. I give myself a taste hit with spices. Spiced nuts, Bombay mix are handy instead of candies and curries and other spicy foods make tasty meals, although you should keep away from the barbeque marinades as they usually contain brown sugar.

I have not been trying to follow a ketogenic diet, but after researching it I realise that I have come around to following the principles by experience and experimentation. I also note that a ketogenic diet is recommended for epileptics, to reduce the frequency of seizures. The effect of blood sugar on the nervous system links up with my experience that my rls is triggered by blood sugar.

Thank-you and that does help me...now I realize why my RLS goes wild when I drink a Coke. I weaned myself off really quickly after not sleeping for 4 days straight.
