Low Dose Naltrexone for Hashi and Adrenal

Greetings dear folks!

Hope you and your families remain well and had a good summer!

I would appreciate your assistance. I have Hashi's. I am coming off 4 years of acute stress related to elder care and neighbour H ell. Right now I am totally exhausted, low appetite, total exhaustion, total brain fog, depression with no feeling of anything, low muscle ability, very shallow breathing, belly fat, interrupted sleep (despite using a cpap), very dry skin, puffy face and feet, muscle cramps, loss of outer eyebrows, bad bruising .....

I do not have a recent blood test as I can not get a family doctor - but 6 months ago an emerg doctor indicated I have low free T3 and low free T4 (I posted here some time ago).

I got myself to a Naturopathic doctor and she recommended low dose naltrexone (ldn) to assist my body regarding the Hashi and the adrenal exhaustion.

She provided me the following link regarding ldn's ability to regulate the immune system.

May I ask your opinion on this?

Thank you for your assistance!

I think you’d have been better off spending your money on getting your blood tested as most of what you’re talking about points to bring under medicated. Did a naturopath really give advice without knowing your bloods? I’d focus on getting your T3 and t4 higher in range then you should see improvements.

Thanks JAmanda.I do have some older blood work which I am using until I can get to a walk in clinic.

The ldn was suggested more for my adrenal gland fatigue which can impact the thyroid.

I've heard various views on this - many good, for those it does work for - considered it myseld and still haven't written it off. As below, of course, blood tests, yet this never really showed much for me. Doctors today seem not to acknowledge adrenal issues unless it's Cushing's or Addison's... as if there can be nothing in between those two states! Best of, because luck often seems to be what we're dealing in. xox

It brought my antibodies down for sure. I did some research and it works best when taken with alpha lipoic acid. You are supposed to take it before bedtime. I am VERY sensitive and it seemed to interrupt my sleep a bit. I got off of it after a couple of years and my antibodies went back up. Maybe a coincidence. Not sure. Best wishes to you!

Never tried it but heard about ldn. If you are going to try it, I’d Be grateful if you post how it goes? I get a lot of joint pain and somebody a while ago recommended it for me, but at the moment I don’t want to confuse things and take too many meds. Good luck,
