Thank You
I’ve been a ‘lurker’ here on the forum, writing very few posts but very much learning about liver disease, it’s complications and it’s effects on the patient, but also on those who care. I wanted to thank both the British Liver Trust for a fantastic resource of information on the liver and it’s complications

PBC care in the US/ Transplant times/ success rates
So… when I was diagnosed we lived in Indiana and I was getting care at IU (misdiagnosed as AIH/PBC overlap) but we were obviously scared/ sought a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. 45 days later we were moving to Central Florida after purchasing a house we had never set foot in.

Alpha fetoprotein test for cirrhosis patients??
Hi, is it standard for this test to be done every 6 months with the liver scan? I've just had my bloods done (post liver scan and pre consultant appointment) and spotted that I have been tested for this for the first time and the results are hidden from my Patient Knows Best account ... should I be worried

Becoming a burden to my family
Hi I have cirrhosis and liver cancer and would be interested in talking to other older people like myself who feel that they are undecided about there future. The experts all seem to give the same advice. My worry is are they just keeping you alive regardless of your quality of life and the heartache

Hello all. I haven't been here for long time as I am trying to avoid media for now. Little update (if anyone read it) my liver nurse says that I am doing very well, I managed to do some houseworks, workouts and eat well. We proceed my check ups from every 3 weeks to every 8 weeks as my blood tests

My son has his first appointment with Vanderbilt Hepatologist this week, anything I need to be aware of?
My son finally has his first appointment with the hepatologist this week to just establish with them. We have been told he doesn't need a liver transplant yet from the GI physician. However, due to Covid and just how long it takes to get appointments for new patients, we wanted to get him established

NEW TO THIS
I have not had a formal diagnosis yet, been referred to the Heptology department at the local hospital, not until July ! This is due to high ALT, just had another blood test. I have not drunk any alcohol since I found out about this. Have I been a heavy drinker, well I didn't think so, but I did

Have to retake a bloodtest

No one got in touch so I contacted the surgery to chase the results, and the receptionist said that 2 test were normal but they want me to retake one in a month, I asked which one and

What not to eat AIH
Hi. I was told that with AIH you can eat 'as normal' which I take as no changes required to existing diet. I am not overweight and eat all the good stuff i.e veggies and fruit on a daily basis. I love my dairy and eat plain unsweetened full fat yoghurt and cheese and full fat butter. I have a bowl of
