My son finally has his first appointment with the hepatologist this week to just establish with them. We have been told he doesn't need a liver transplant yet from the GI physician. However, due to Covid and just how long it takes to get appointments for new patients, we wanted to get him established with a provider there in the event something changes quickly. I know you have to be clean of any substances for 6 months to even be considered, so we are working on that now. Is there anything else that I need to know or to ask while we are there? I have gotten his medical records from his providers and have copies of the test results on a CD for their review. Thanks! And please pray for us as we advance to this stage of trying to be proactive. Appreciate the responses.

well unless your son is in serious shape, transplant can be far off . degrees of fibrosis & cirrhosis and fatty liver, can have alot of different degrees of damage. plus cna be other alternaitives. Diets, exercise, certains meds ...all these can improve these damages, Dr's need to perform tests find out how extreme the damagee is then talk about what is the best ideas for a repair of damage and lfe of new eating and exercise patterns.
