Low platelets

My platelets range from 20,000 to 50,000 the kasg 7 years. My spleen is 2x the size if my liver. I also have advanced cirrhosis which has been stable. Hematologist tried ivig therapy which got me to 50,000 for 2 to 3 weeks, but that did not last long. Any suggestions on any natural ways to raise or at least stabilize platelet production or circulation.

I am not a doctor but had low platelets that improved over time. I stopped taking any and all NSAIDs (Advil, Naproxen in the US). No alcohol of any kind. But that’s all I can offer.

I haven't drank or taken tylenol and motrin in 7 years. I wish I switched to clean living 25 years ago. I was just wondering. My hematologist told me the same as far as natural means to raise platelets. Thanks for the reply.

I think we all look back and wish we had paid more attention to some aspect of our health. You are paying more heed now and that is great!

IDK if you are on any other medications affecting your liver, that you can't stop. But processed foods contribute to fatty liver problems, and although it's very difficult to change old eating habits, if you stop the sugar/white flour/chemicals and start playing around with grass fed meat (there *are*differences between brands/ranches, so keep trying until you find one you like), grass fed dairy/cheeses/milk/yoghurt, spices, and changing your *old ideas* about what makes up a meal/food for a day, you may see changes. I don't know if it's ever "too late" to improve one's diet and at least feel better.

As my partner says, it's not so much that he like the way the foods I now make *taste*, he likes the way the foods make him *feel*. He started to "eat clean" just this past year. And after mmm 6 months? he can't stand store bought ice cream, or potato chips, or snacky stuff like candy, or even hot dogs much. He's in the period where they just don't taste as good as he remembers. He'lI give in every so often, then notice he doesn't feel great afterwards, or that the food doesn't taste as great as he remembers. I still do stuff like ice cream or pizza as a treat but it's at least the best quality I can get. He's lost a good 15-20 pounds without trying and he's not hungry. So he's willing to have a lot of "boring" things because he feels better after eating an apple or some nuts compared to a bag of chips or french fries.

I agree! I carry fond memories of the taste of all the crap that I ate before. But whenever I feel like having them I ask myself would I trade how I feel now for how I felt then? And the answer is no way 😃

I would suggest looking at different internet sites for diet to increase platelets and go with the consensus.

Low platelets are so frightening! I have haf thrombocytopenia classified as ITP since six years. Last couple of years I have had platelet booster pill Revolade ( eltrombopag) which has helped a lot. The goal is to keep platelets not normal but like 50-150. Sadly enough I have since one year serious heart problems with clogged coronary arteries. Angina! Do not know if Revolade or what else contributed. I also have heridetary heart disease in family.

My dr says that treatment of the CLL will help fighting the ITP. So I am now on Venetoclax since one year. But still Revolade dependent, although I have been able to reduce the amount a bit.

Maybe Eltrombopag or the other platelet booster NPlate are something you could discuss with your doctors.

Best wishes!

Christina
