NHS failing
Well being diagnosed with Cirrhosis 22/09/2022, I had my first 6 monthly HCC scan 07/03/2023 I was strangely excited to see the hard work it had taken to lose 3 stone, completely abstain from alcohol, endoscopy exam clear & not a single symptom of my diagnosis! I was met with a STUDENT and the most uneducated

Fatty Liver
Hello. I have recently been diagnosed with fatty liver. I have been a heavy drinker for at least 25 years. My question is: How long will it take for my liver to recover if I abstain from alcohol completely? I understand that there is no set figure but any advice is appreciated. Thanks for your help

Fibroscan of 9
I went to the BLT roadshow and had a scan and my score was 9. I’ve been a heavy drinker for years, so I knew it would be high., and I haven’t drunk since the scan on Monday. The clinician was lovely, and recommended I go to my GP to get blood tests but also said I shouldn’t be too concerned. Everything

Supplements for arthritis and rivaoxaban
Hi all My husband has paroxysmal AF and a pacemaker takes digoxin and Rivaoxaban. He has slight arthritis in both knees(too much playing hockey in his younger days!) and not bad enough to take painkillers all the time. Bothers him the most after sitting for a while and then moving again. Before his

liver dialysis
hello Has anyone heard of this new treatment “Liver Dialysis’ apparently cleans your liver out of toxins, improves your bloods? I’m seeing my transplant team for the first time on 9th Aug and apparently I think I’m boarderline if I need a transplant, so was wondering if this treatment would be better

Good news
Whilst I am still struggling with getting help for my son, I had a bright spot of news this week. Had a consultation with my liver nurse, first time face to face since lockdown. My bloods have been great for several years, ultrasounds all good too. I had a Fibroscan as I hadn’t had one for around 4

Update from a worried mom.
I didn't realise it has been two months when I first posted about my son. It has now been confirmed that he is now terminal .It really bought it home when his gp rang to say he had completed the D1500 form that has to be sent to the government I think he said. Anthony went into a nursing home last Thursday

Feeling a bit lost, fatty liver diagnosis maybe?
Hi everyone, Two weeks ago, I woke up with horrendous abdominal pain. After a trip to A&E and around the houses a bit, I was told there are some fat deposits in my liver and my liver blood tests were abnormal. As I'd ended up in a gallbladder dept, they confirmed it wasn't my gallbladder and they

GGT readings high
Hi, I have had problems with my GGT readings being high for 10 years and most doctors have ignored it. Now i have a specialist that wants to get to the bottom of what is causing this. I would say i am a moderate drinker which i have slowed down but the readings are still high. Had CT scan and all appears

PBC with Cirrhosis
I was diagnosed with PBC in 2016, I had 2 ARFI scans one in 2019 and one in 2020. Both of these showed F4 result. I did not get told that this was, in fact, Cirrhosis until September 2022 by a Consultant Heptatologist at a different hospital. As you can imagine this has left me feeling overwhelmed and

British liver trust Roadshows
hi just wondering what the roadshows are like and how can you get scanned. My reason for asking is I have high gamma gt over 400, raised SAP over 150, serum alt level over 170, AST over 100. I have 57 week wait to see someone at my local hospital and my GP thinks I need a fibroscan. Ultrasound scan showed

High albumin?
What could cause slightly high albumin in blood? Just had some blood tests done and this was the only thing out of range. When I Google it, I only find dehydration as a possible cause. I drink a ton of water so this seems very unlikely to me. My past levels have always been within range. The doctor didn
