Hi Javier. First thing ..... calm down. It's easily rectified.... eat healthily ... fresh fruit and veg, lean meats, nuts etc etc. Drink 8 glasses of water each day and your usual tea and coffee and excercise regularly and daily. Avoid salt and sugar and basically junk food and of course alcohol. There is absolutely no reason why you won't live to a ripe old age as long as you look after yourself and avoid putting rubbish into your body.... it's just common sense and some willpower to get started. Good luck 🍉🍏🍇🍅🥑🥝🌰🥕🚴‍♂️🏋️‍♂️⛹️‍♂️🏊‍♂️🤸‍♂️🏃‍♂️💪🌞

The British Liver Trust have a fantastic downloadable leaflet entitled "Treating NAFLD with a healthy diet and physical exercise" and you'll find it at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/do...

The whole BLT page on NAFLD is brilliant for information on how to rectify the problem, plus, if alcohol has played any role then that needs to be left behind too.

All the best,

Katie

It sounds like you have fatty liver. Positive001 nailed it exactly, you need to calm down and as of today start a new life of healthy eating, getting off the couch more often and of course zero alcohol. Chin up!

1st is to take it easy, stop all alcohol, I was told at my first, to stop all alcohol, so since 2018 I have never had a single drink of any alcohol. I was told alcohol is poison to my liver !!! Then you need to think bout a low carb diet and start some sort of exercise and increase as you go along and decrease the carb intake as you progress. Ron

Javier, I’ve got some even better news. Of course it is different if you have serious (like daily) alcohol dependancy, but if you have been diagnosed with “Mild Fatty Liver”, you dont necessarily have to give up booze altogether. I got rid of it with exercise & by cutting down dinking to once-a-week & 2 yearly ‘dry months’. A friend had the same and got rid of it by daily exercise while still drinking wine almost daily but in mideration. If you have a record of being able to drink moderately, you dont have to go full AA forever

Hi there , I had been referred for a scan because of lpain / discomfort in my right side , I expected them to say it was gallstones as my mum had them. When he said , casually , it is an enlarged liver I was gob smacked, and well ? I cried tbh in the corridor. When you hear " liver" it's scary . But I changed my diet , I have grapefruit juice and a couple if coffees a day , more exercise . Luckily my was not alcohol related but have cut that down anyway. And after my last blood tests it's almost back to normal . It now occasionally bothers me . I read up about it , like you do and it's very common but can mend itself. Recently I have embarked on the couch to 5 k ( would recommend I am 61 and never jogged or run ever ) and in the whole time ( now on last week) it has not bothered me , maybe because I have lost some fat esp around my tummy , and improved my metabolism . So sorry to waffle, but read up , change what you can and hopefully it will go back to normal and not develop into more. Good luck , and once the anxiety ( which can make it worse ) subsides you can live with it and keep it as healthy as you can

You must learn all you can about YOUR DIAGNOSIS: as far as I know any fatty Liver, have been told it is immperitive to Stop ALL ALCOHOL!!! I was told any alcohol would be like drinking poison to my liver!! I was a once in a while drinker, so at that time felt that if this is the way I have to do to stay alive and live a better and longer life, it was an easy decission to stop drinking alcohol, plus started eating what I am to eat. I drink black coffee or unsweeten ice tea, no soft drinks, no milk. I hope this helps you , any other questions, give me a shout...Ron
