Statin drugs with ITP
Because of high
LDL
I started taking a statin drug a couple of months ago. I was shocked to see my platelets dropped from about 112 to 90 in just a couple of months. Is anyone else on this list on statins, and did it affect your platelett levels?

Advice on statins and vascular atheroma please
Apologies it is quite old and has possibly been posted before but it has a good explanation of
LDL
and HDL and although it does not rule out statins it does make the case quite strongly for borderline thyroid conditions to be treated.

Prostate Cancer and Statins
The jury seems to be out on whether high HDL levels are of benefit in combatting high
LDL
levels. My GP wants me to go on statins. I had hoped to continue trying to mitigate the high overall and
LDL
levels through diet and exercise, but I get the feeling it might be time for statins.

Atorvastatin
I had been resisting my GPs' calls to take statins for some years having pointed out to them that although they were saying a total cholesterol level around 6 was too high the ratio of HDL to
LDL
was good. About eighteen months ago I acquiesceded and started taking Atorvastatin.

Pcsk9
I have chronic renal failure stage 3 , have had aerotic valve surgery, also fairly high
ldl
cholesterol, prediabetes because of simvastatin, nhs will not authorize pcsk9 inhibitors for me , it seems that the nhs would prefer you to become diabetic than give better drugs without side effects
