kidney blood test questions
I just had a routine blood test. I won’t be able to see the doctor for answers until Friday and I’m worried and scared. My eGFR numbers dropped from 95 to 44 in one year. My Creatinine numbers are high and my cholesterol numbers also shot way up. I have no symptoms. Has anyone else had such a change

Imperial College Help please
Hi, further to my last post - thank you all so much - my GP and Renal Consultant are in agreement that I see a rheumatologist as well as continuing to see my renal Consultant. A few people and Vasculitis UK recommended Imperial College as I believe they have a Vasculitis Centre there? I think I've had

Last week I was able to ski with a bunch of my grandkids and all my pics were of them. Some days I felt ill but it was so worth it Today I went snowshoeing in a snow storm. Prednisone and kidneys
I was diagnosed with PMR in July 2023 and have been on prednisone ever since, although I have tapered down from 15 mg a day to 13 mg, and will be tapering further down to 12 in the next week or so. My last bloodwork showed higher than normal creatinine levels (104), and a glomerular filtration rate of

Add Nubeqa to Orgovyx?
Age 81. I had prostate radiation in 2021, and pelvic node radiation in 2023. PSA was 3.78 in Dec 2023. PSMA PET then showed cancer growing in prostate, shrinking in pelvic node, but spread to an abdominal node. I have started ADT with Orgovyx (relugolix) and want to add an ARI. The urologist wants

Trimethoprim - ET

Provenge (only) - impact on overall survival
I just got insurance approval for Provenge...out of pocket is really high so now I'm doing a cost benefit analysis in my mind. I've seen many different articles showing that Provenge ALONE only extends overall survival by 4-15 months. Does that sound correct? Tall_Allen mentioned adding xofigio for

To poop or not to poop, that is the question
I am about to embark on taking a phosphorous binder. I will be taking Sevelamer or Renvela at 800mg, one tablet with meals. I only eat two meals a day. WHAT can I do to prevent constipation. I already have an issue with it because of Ozempic and being on dialysis. I had to stop eating oatmeal every day

I am still struggling with treatment decisions - Help please.
I am struggling to decide on my treatment. The main point of conflict is HT or not, and LDR Brachytherapy (if I am eligible - because of a previous HOLEP) or IMRT. I also wonder if I should push hard for a 10-day earlier consultation at the risk of bad feeling. I welcome advice. In the UK - Referral

Can a dialysis patient use protein power?
My protein level is low even with the Pro-Stat the kidney center gives to me, Is it ok to use whey protein powder? i mean in it the potassium is 160 mg per serving, Cholesterol is 55mg. I'm a dialysis person.I'm thinking cutting the per serving to half so to decrease the potassium.

Creatine
I am on Ursofalk and very well fortunately. I take Bezafibrate for itch (life saver). I have embark on a fitness journey of Crossfit and after 12 months wish to improve even more. I am advised by my coach to take Creatine and that this is natural and improves performance and muscle recovery. Anyone

FDA alert re: denosumab
This was issued specifically re: Prolia, with no mention of Xgeva. However patients should be alerted, and of course don't change your medications without first speaking to your doctor about this. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-adds-boxed-warning-increased-risk-severe-hypocalcemia-patients-advanced-chronic-kidney-disease

Right phrenic nerve paralysis
Path from RP showed extensive perineural involvement. No other risk factors for phrenic nerve paralysis. Haven't talked to MO yet, but sure concerned it's tumor invasion. PSA still <0.04.

Luteolin, ellagic acid and punicic acid and prostate cancer metastasis
Ok here we go again, excuse me if this was already gone over. I know Pomegranate has stated benefits, but in combo with these other supps may increase the benefits according to this study done on patients and our favored friends, the mice- lol. For me if it can't harm and may help then why not.
