my husband has been on dialysis for just over 12 months now but suffers with severe nausea and vomiting. He is unable to keep food down or even attempt to eat some days . Is this a normal side effect of dialysis please and if so is there any treatment. We went to our GP but he was useless and unable to offer a solution

Wow, NOOOO that is not normal. Have you spoken to his nephrologist? Is he at a center? Someone is over seeing his case. Something is very wrong, and it might not even have anything to do with dialysis. I think many docs, who are not kidney docs, write off patients who are in end stage renal failure. He may need a gastrologist or internal medicine doc, which your GP should have recommended. He needs help now, before he gets too weak. Is he losing a lot of weight and if so, No one at the clinic has noticed?

Questions: When does he get sick? Right after dialysis, later on? How is he the next day when he is not on dialysis. Does he bounce back or is he sick then too? Is he able to hold down water or liquids? Is it just solid foods he cannot keep down? These are all questions the GP should have asked.

Let us know how you make out.
