My protein level is low even with the Pro-Stat the kidney center gives to me, Is it ok to use whey protein powder? i mean in it the potassium is 160 mg per serving, Cholesterol is 55mg. I'm a dialysis person.I'm thinking cutting the per serving to half so to decrease the potassium.

You should ask you center Doctor or dietician about this. There maybe other things in the powder that would not be good for you. Do you eat protein? On dialysis, they want you to. Hard to do if like me you have been limiting it. Just watch the potassium. Chicken and eggs are good sources of protein. Broccoli is good for a protein veggie. I still soak mine even though my potassium is fine now. This is why they have dietician in center. Take advantage of that service. It is being paid to be used.

Thank you for the reply. I'm 74, walk with a walker, I just can't or don't cook barely, so I didn't get many chance to eat meat no more. the kidney center gives me pro-stat every time I come in, but my protein still low, 3.6. that's why I thinking about protein powder. This one that I got is every serving ( two scoops) 160 mg potassium, I was thinking to use one scoop every day, so not to get so much potassium. I asked my dietitian, she said it's ok, she said everything that we eat got some potassium in it, so I'm gonna just to give a try. Wish me luck, I mean may the Lord bless me for this. Thank you for replying.

Definitely consult your doctor. Consult your dietitian. Your supplements are tailored for your lab results, mobility or activity levels and so on. Best to consult clinic staff. Blessings

In the morning I liked to read so I didn't have the habit to cook up something for myself in the morning. i know I need eggs, so when I do cook, I'll fry 4 or 5 eggs at a time, I only eat egg whites, but that's not everyday though cause I just live by myself.

I use whey gold standard, I used to use pure protein powder. I don't worry about the potassium, I take phosphor binders with everything I consume. Phosphor is my nemesis. I also drink novasource protein shakes with binders. The novasource is decent tasting, and contains 20g protein. Talk to your dialysis center, you can get novasource direct through nestle for way cheaper than you can buy on amazon.

Luck and care,

Thanks, I used to drink Nepro protein drinks, but it gave me lots fat on my stomach, now I can't get it off now, that's the only kind of protein drinks my kidney center offered. besides, I can't afford any other protein drinks anyway. Thanks, I hope your phosphor and potassium in the safe range. Take care!
