Acid Reflux and Asthma
Hi everyone, I have asthma off and on and have had all sorts of tests over the last year. It was made worse by Covid and getting a bit older (now 61). Otherwise I'm quite active. The main feature seems to be many years of acid reflux and I have a small hiatus hernia at the root of that. I am on omeprazole

New to this website and am looking for some advice :)
Hi, I’m a 19 year old female who has suffered from IBS my whole life, literally since I was a baby. I have EDS, PoTS, Endometriosis, GERD and Gastritis. I had H.pylori from the end of 2017 to April 2019, undiagnosed and untreated for over a year because my gp said that I was ‘attention seeking because

Barium Swallow and hernia diagnosis.
Having been referred for a Barium swallow, I decided to go for private appointment. which I had today. The radiologist said that I have a hernia, (small) he described it but is more than likely to be the cause of the throat clearing issues, i suspect from acid reflux. So, now next to find out what

Night sweats again
Hi all, I have reviewed many posts for answers on this but symptoms and underlying issues are variable and so posts are inconclusive. I have SLE and Sjogrens. I also have drenching night sweats. Here's my summary: 1) I'm male, so they're not menopausal! 2) My medication has been stable for years: Hydroxychloroquine

omeprazole long term
Hello, advice please on long term use of Omeprazole, one 20mgs a day. I've been on Omeprazole for years now as I suffer from GERD. I recently asked my consultant about coming off Omeprazole but he stated as it is such a low dosage, to keep taking. There is so much on the internet about this medication

How long do PPIs take to work?
I have acid reflux and I’ve been on Famotidine, Esomeprazole, each for 2 weeks, and now omeprazole for 6 weeks. Cut out all acidic and spicy food. I still have heartburn every day. I usually get it at around noon. How long do these PPIs take to work? Just wondering if they’re not even helping. I also

Thanks for Omeprazole query replies
Thank you to everyone who replied to my queries about Omeprazole. I’m afraid I haven’t been able to respond to all of them individually - there have been 53 so far and it felt a bit overwhelming - but thank you all for your suggestions and shared experiences. They are much appreciated and benefited

Gut and hands!
I would say these are my two major symptoms. I started suffering from acute indigestion in late summer 2018 and the GP prescribed Omeprazole. Only a few weeks later my hands and lower arms became swollen, red and painful. As luck would have it the same GP who happened to have a special interest in

Hello, I had a coronary stent fitted in October 2023. My 3rd in16 years. I have recovered well after each episode and returned to an active life. I have started a couch to 5K and managed a 5K in 30 minutes after a month of exercise. So I am really pleased. However recently I have noticed my calves, ankles

omeprazole query
is it advisable to keep taking Omeprazole before taking prednisolone as my doctor prescribes, or would breakfast eating beforehand be as effective? (In the interests of taking less drugs than absolutely necessary).

Thin Leg
My right shin has been giving me pain, particularly at night for last year, now wakes me up. I have also been falling over because my leg gives way. I've had a scan to exclude blood vessel problems and that was clear. I have now noticed that my right leg is getting thinner and shin bone sticks out.

Thyroid - updated bloods - advice
Good morning, Just had the attached bloods back from Medichecks and wonder if anyone had any advice before I return to GP to discuss. I took the test at 7:30am after fasting overnight and within one hour of waking. I’ve put columns for previous tests in April and September for comparison. TSH

sorry to be a nuisance
Hello my friends, I increased to 20mg Pred , as advised by Sick day rules and Covid doctor , throughout the acute phase until i tested negative.and for a couple of days afterwards. So it’s been just short of 14 days. I can’t go back down to 8mg as planned as I’m wiped out and know Adrenal function

Broncholidator Reversibility Test
Hi, I posted a few days ago about my team wanting to do a broncholidator reversibility test and FeNO before they put me forward for biologics. I wasn't going to do the test, then decided to do it, incase it did show reversibility to save time waiting for a referral to Wynthenshawe as my current hospital

Hi,I'm on 20mg mtx and 200mg hydroxy. I've been having some difficulties swallowing tablets the last 6 months or so plus acid reflux/ dyspepsia discomfort at night so saw GP recently. I've had an endoscopy today and have got a telephone call with said GP on Tuesday, although I doubt he'll have any results

Advice appreciated
I’m currently on 7mg Pred which is controlling the PMR symptoms to about 75-80% I would say. I take Omeprazole (first thing in the morning) plus VitD3 and Risendronate. Over the last two weeks I have suffered diarrhoea attacks about 2 hours after eating my main meal but not EVERY time. These are quite

Got pred at last!
I posted here a month or two back about my failure to get a PMR diagnosis in the UK. Just in case anyone's interested, I'm in Cyprus for a month and have something of an update. I saw a private Rheumy (at a time and date of my choice; free parking right outside state of the art American Medical Center
