Hello, I had a coronary stent fitted in October 2023. My 3rd in16 years. I have recovered well after each episode and returned to an active life. I have started a couch to 5K and managed a 5K in 30 minutes after a month of exercise. So I am really pleased. However recently I have noticed my calves, ankles and feet are showing signs of swelling. This fluctuates.
I take a cocktail of meds. My Esomeprazole was changed to Lansoprazole, I have just stopped taking an additional nitrate after 3 months. Has anyone else experienced swollen limbs after a stent being fitted?

Oh dear, and you are doing so well.It could be linked to the extra exercise if you had been inactive for a while before , but it could also be because of one or more of your medication changes , or even low vitamins or minerals which can cause water retention to begin , especially in the lower limbs.
You really need to contact your GP or Cardiology Unit and let them know this is happening and remind them of the drug changes you have had , and ask if you need some blood checks too. Tell the surgery receptionist that you are having leg swelling and have a cardiac problem they should at the least get a doctor to speak to you within 24 hours on the phone ,
In the meantime , it is advisable to keep your legs up when you sit down , don't cross your legs and drink the recommended amount of fluids each day ( I know it seems mad if it's water retention but more fluids can help you clear the build up ). Try raising your feet on pillows or the bottom end of your bed at night as well.
Hope things are sorted soon , let us know how you get on and take care , Bee
