As anyone else had any reaction (ie increase in cough) to the above inhaler? I was switched to this in June (2023) & haven't stopped coughing! Also, I was put on Bisoprolol in Feb after an x-ray showed Arrhythmia. The x-ray result I had 2 wks ago showed as Normal!

Last month I was given Omeprazole treatment for one month & have learnt online that 'if' I have GERD this could cause noncardiact symptoms ie pain in centre of chest, which I did present at Dr with in Feb.

I have got a video appt with a Cardiologist in Nov. Thought I'd ask on here first.

I won't stop taking Bisoprolol until I know it's safe to do so but I have been left wondering if my symptoms are more to do with GERD than heart.

I've never had high bp.

Anyone with GERD or info on the above would be much appreciated. Thank you.

My chemist issued Salbutamol instead of Ventolin at one time and i didnt get on with it at all, it gave me no relief and think it made my cough worse, I insisted on going back to Ventolin. I am also on Bisopralol for high bp and a fast testing heart rate. If your x ray showed as normal it could be that the Bisopralol are working. I would speak with your doctor re the Omerprazole, I went on them when the pain in my back between my shoulders became really bad , it turned out to be acid reflux. I hope everything settles down for you and you start to feel better x

Thank you Izb1 for your reply I will check with Cardiologist in Nov & come back to you. What is the difference between Salbutamol & Ventolin then?

Yes, I agree with you & expected a normal result from 2nd x-ray with being on Bisoprolol.

But, I would have liked to have known my HR without it.

I mean do I really need to be taking Bisoprolol ?

'If' my fast heart rate at the time of first x- ray was caused by GERD then maybe I don't.

Perhaps I may need treatment for GERD only.

The symptoms for Angina & GERD are very similar.

I do know that within 2 days of starting Omeprazole I could breath better.

Anyone else been diagnosed with Angina & found out later it was caused by GERD?

They say that Ventolin and Salbutamol are the same and the only difference is the cfc used , the reason was the environment, which i think it total rubbish ( sorry but thats my opinion) i think its is cheaper and thats the real reason but for me it didnt work. Most of us with lung problems suffer reflux and end up with a ppi and the pain i had certainly felt like my heart apparenlty this is a common problem, best speak with the doctor so you get a clear picture x

I agree with you re these inhalers lzb 1 there is 'something' in this Salbutamol that really isn't agreeing with me I have stopped using it this past few days and, it seems, my cough doesn't seem anywhere near as bad. I will leave for a wk then go back on it & see how I go. If I start again with this 'hacking' cough I will flag it up.

I only have a video appt with the Cardiologist on 14/11/23 but I'm grateful for that. I will be asking the same questions.

I knew I would get some sound advice on here from other members.

Thank you all for your help, opinion & advice. 👍😊

I was on salbutamol was moved onto Ventolin as I didn't think the salbutamol easy haler was doing me any good, because it is a dry powder the respiratory nurse didn't think I was getting relief, so put me on the Ventolin and to use it with an Easychamber, which has helped a great deal, cannot comment on any of your other medicines as I do not take any of these, nurse suggested that I use my ventolin, then wait a little while before I take trimbow

Thank you palpy for that info. If these 2 inhalers are 'supposed' to be the same at least 3 of us have found a problem with the same one. I wonder why? Take care 👍😊

I suffered terrible for months pain in chest felt everything inflamed and raw thought I was having heart problems thought even worse in the end it was gerd its nasty to suffer with I'm on laprazole and no problems since

Hi Germantara ty for that info. Having read that not all angina is caused by a heart problem & 'could' be caused by GERD I've been on a mission lol. But a sensible one! It may well be that this GERD has caused my heart to be Tackycardic hence the med Bisoprolol.

I'm just a lay person but I need to know that maybe 'if' I get treatment for GERD will I need to take this beta blocker?

Will keep u all updated in mid Nov (if I can find this post again) 🙄😄

Take care 👍

Hi - we have a couple of similarities so here goes:

First - Salbutamol has never caused me any adverse reactions. I think technique in use is important - be sure you shake the container before and between puffs - otherwise you may get the propellant and I am guessing that could indeed cause some reaction. The reason is that the propellent expands when you open the lever but the active powder settles under it and is not properly expelled.

Now to arrhythmia and Bisopropol. I take this and I am told my symptom should not show up IF the drug was working; it doesn't so I guess it is.

And finally GERD which I too suffered (business stress!) until I took an extended course of lansoprazole and I am now clear. However one of the least attractive aspects of GERD is that the acid can seriously damage the little cilia that are in your bronchial tubes and critical in getting mucus up and out of your lungs. This can lead to bronchiectasis which I also suffer! The 'bronch' can be very unpleasant and coughing is one of the symptoms. It requires a pretty close inspection for diagnosis so is a bit invasive.

I also have emphysema and some asthmatic issues so I have become dangerously partially informed over the past 20 years! Thus check everything I have said with your clinician/ specialists or, if you have to, GP.

Timberman where is my reply?? I answered ur post, rather lengthy, this morning b4 K2 & can see now it's not on here?? Wonder what I did wrong?

I can't find it Timberman but I found something I typed out & saved re my questions for Cardiologist.

I also put a post up regarding were to report medication that we might be finding a bad reaction to but that's not here either!??

Found following online last wk & is my query.

Can digestive problems cause rapid heart rate? (Tachycardia)

'Dr Ludwig Roemheld was one of the first researchers to explore the link between the heart and stomach. For example, an irregular or rapid heartbeat can be experienced at the same time as bloating or acid reflux.31 Dec 2022'.

So, could 'my' Tachycardia be causedby GERD ?

If so do I need to carry on taking beta Blockers?

I hope this uploads to the site. Take care.

I did mention in my 'lost' post that I do have COPD diagnosed in 2005 & managed it well since. I tried to keep my weight down follow a healthy diet & exercise. Obviously I've had the nasty exacerbations at times having to take my rescue pk of the dreaded steriods & A/bi. But, to be fair, without them my life would be limited.

So up until Feb '23 I was only taking one inhaler. Because I presented with chest pain at Dr & 1st x- ray resuIt in Feb I've been put on Bisoprolol.

I can't understand that taking Omeprazole cured my breathlessness. So, I'm thinking maybe my heart or pain in chest at the time, more to do with GERD.

Will be asking & post on here.

Hi, I don’t use my Salbutamol often because I take Symbicort as my main preventative inhaler, but I don’t think the Salbutamol is as effective as Ventolin. Like many medications these days I suspect the cost is a key factor in what the Dr prescribes which is not always in the best interest of the patient.

Good morning K2 thank you for your reply. One size doesn't fit all does it & for me & maybe a few more this med Salbutamol doesn't suit us.

I can't begin to explain the cough I've had & trying to 'huff' up the mucous was exhausting. I never even considered it might be the new inhaler as we are told its the same as Ventolin.

I agree with Ibz1 above & you it may have a lot to do with the cost but, the cost doesn't affect my lungs!? There is something in this med that maybe causing a bad reaction for some of us.

I think there is a site to report such med adverse reactions. I will find it & copy link if others want to add to it. Take care 👍😊
