GP recommends HRT, but still have periods - is this advisable?
HRT: I'm 48, juggling various health/autoimmune-type symptoms, low iron, low energy. Was chatting to a GP today (different one from usual) about getting a sick note, and she suggested trying HRT even though I still have periods. She's written me a prescription, but I'm super wary as a) I don't trust

Breathing and coughing excercises
I've noticed in a lot of responses to questions that people recommend carrying on with their breathing and coughing excercises following open heart surgery. I wasn't given any after my surgery and am wondering what these excercises consist of as I still have breathing problems following my valve replacement

Aviva - Excluding Endometriosis as a "Chronic" Condition
Hello I'm hoping someone could give me advice or be able to provide some support during this tough time which my wife is going through. I'm doing my very best to support her but feel like I can't do enough most of the time. I know we are lucky in that we have private medical insurance through my work

A prime example of bad misleading research
A little bit of scientific comment and analysis to discriminate plausible papers from rubbish. In the latest journal Thyroid I've picked out a paper that could mislead readers in its misuse of statistical analyses These are the kind of sloppy papers that all too easily get picked on as support for

Dx of PV confirmed
Hi all. So had phone call from my haematologist today to confirm a Dx of PV. I am off to sunny climates today for holiday so he has sent a letter to my GP to start me on aspirin when I return. Won’t see me again until planned Sept consult with him. Not sure when venesections will start, hopefully not

Help with hrt
I’ve been taking evorel 25 and ultrogestan 100 since February for menopause symptoms but the side effects have been getting worse. The menopause team wrote to gp and suggested everol conti or something else. The gp prescribed everol conti as it’s what they prefer. I finally got it today and I’m not happy

Pain management - any good resources?
I'm lucky in that MS has not caused me a tremendous amount of pain. I have hip pain and on the near-term schedule is a hip replacement. Overall, as I get older, there will be more pains and aches, MS/hip-related or not. I am interested in alternative ways to manage pains. The pills are great, but I'm

Levothyroxine and HRT
My first post on here but have been following for the last 4 years and have learnt so much from all the different posts. My question is about taking HRT tablets as well as Levothyroxine . I take my levo before bed but my HRT tablets also say to take at night. Will this affect my levo? Should I consider

Reducing levothyroxine and taking HRT
I would appreciate some thoughts on whether I should reduce my Levothyroxine from 125 daily to 125 x Mon-Fri and 100 x Sat/Sun to bring TSH up a little bit. GP has agreed to this and started me on HRT patch (Evorel Conti 50) to see if that helps with the aches and pains as she thinks thyroid is treated

Is Atrial Fibrillation connected to the Thyroid?
I am wondering if through a change in thyroid hormone type and dosage one can modify or cure Atrial Fibrillation? Several here have mentioned that irregular heartbeat or palpitations have decreased with the use of T3, however, I don't recall reading anything about adjustments in hormone replacement

Osteoporosis and replacement hip….
I have severe osteoporosis and I’ve been told that I need a hip replacement. Is this possible if the bones are not strong to hold screws, rods etc?? Has anyone else been in this situation?
