post liver op.
I am nearly 5 weeks post op liver transplant and I wondered how long the initial pain goes on from the operation incision? I am still having to take quite strong pain killers at regular intervals and I wanted to know if this is quite normal? Other than that I am feeling fine, a bit tired but a lot of

13 months post-transplant and quality of life
Hello. I had my liver transplant on the 15th August 2017 and have recovered pretty well so far. My operation had several problems including my kidneys failing, 2 seizures and internal bleeding. I seem to be suffering from a little brain fog, anxiety and a fair bit of low mood which I presume is the Ciclosporin

Is depression normal for kidney transplant?
Hi, I just found out yesterday that I have to get a kidney transplant and I've been really depressed and have cried a few times. My question is...am I overreacting? I feel like I am but I can't help it. Is it just that I'm in shock maybe? Were any of you depressed when you found out? I guess I'm just

Any positive transplant stories 60+?
I've got a CLL buddy who has just been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, which is basically bone marrow failure. I'm not clear if this is transformation of her CLL or a secondary malignancy. Either way, she is facing a decision about undergoing an autologous bone marrow transplant. She is in

CMV infection in liver transplant patients
Hello all, I hope you are doing well. I am 5.5 months post transplant and have D+R- CMV (so I got CMV with my dear liver). I have been taking Valganciclovir for prevention for more than 3 months and have recently stopped advised by my doctor. Within one week of stopping, I have developed a cold sore

So at 56 having never considered myself to be a runner I decided to have a go at C25K and today I ran the whole 5K (took me 43 mins though - I am SLOW) Am feeling very proud of myself and thankful to my donor and their family ( I have had a liver transplant for an autoimmune condition) without them

ASK IT...GET AN OPINION! What is one question you have been thinking on and need some suggestions?
Like last week--I am going to be the first ASK IT... I often wonder where I should go to find an answer to helping with the issues I face in being a caregiver to my adult son who received his first kidney transplant nearly three years ago? ANSWER: One great source along the way has been the NKF Cares

Introduction
Hi everyone! My daughter had Wilm's Tumor at 13 months and then was diagnosed with kidney disease a year later. She had a kidney transplant, receiving her dad's kidney at age 11. She is now 18 years old and just started her freshman year of college.

Seriously questioning my doctor, need your advice!
I am at stage 4 GFR 23, Type 1 diabetic for 43 years. I had one nephrologist and was not happy with my care. I dropped him and was referred to my current doctor two years ago. My ckd was caused by immunosuppressive drugs when i had a pancreas transplant. I was told by many doctors that nothing could

High ALP levels post transplant - help any advice?
My husband had his liver transplant in November 2017 and has quite a few ups and downs since resulting in admission last month for a week for various tests. The report says concern about high ALP levels and the need for further bone investigations. His ALP is normally 120-150. In hospital it was 220

Alternative Therapy to Preserve Renal Transplants
I had a live-donor renal transplant 13 years ago, but I'm well aware that such transplants usually only last 15 years so I am looking for ways to preserve its function. I now take Renadyl, which contains microflora which have been shown in several scientific studies to reduce levels of uremic toxins
