A thyroid hormone controls insulin production
A thyroid hormone different from T4 and T3 acts as a control of insulin production by affecting the energy producing factories (mitochondria). Like T4 , the hormone is a prhormone that has to be converted into the active form. A bit biochemical but I thought people might like to see a new example of

Looking for an 'interested, think outside the box' endocrinologist in the Atlanta (US) area. My thyroid problems are being treated by my PCP
I lost thyroid fx in 1984 due to radiation for laryngeal cancer (which was resolved and no longer a problem). But over the years of thyroid treatment have had many problems. Tx always to just adjust levothyroxine dose. I am a retired nurse and have felt for a long time that my thyroid problems are not

Insulin pump - new Omnipod
Hi, despite being a type one diabetic for the last 23 years, I've finally taken advice of my diabetic care team and started on an insulin pump last week! It is a brilliant innovation which I'm getting on okay with it but do feel a little like I've stepped back 23 years, as there is so much to learn again

Another Fantastic Week: DEXCOM (Otra semana fantástica: DEXCOM)
Another fantastic week came and went with the DEXCOM. The sensor I had used last week worked really well-- even when my Niece rolled on my lap. I was so surprised and happy about this since I was worried that the sensor would have a few issues. Lucky me, I got proven wrong for a change! I'm okay

Does she have a chance?
My mum was taken into ICY 8 days ago after an overdose of insulin. We suspect she had taken it before bed and going 7 am next morning. She hasn't woken up yet and is not responsive. CAT scan didn't show any signs of severe brain damage. She has been taken off all medication and sedation for 5 days

Next Steps
Good morning ladies. I have reluctantly decided to give up the Trioc TroVax Trial. Although it held things in check for a while my CA125 has been rising and I had signs of recurrence on my last scan albeit peripheral, sort of spread in a few places outside my organs. Also the hour each way trips

Diabetes Medication and Kidney damage a Myth
The cab driver at my office had his leg amputated and partially damaged vision. As a soul bread earner for a family of four, his life now hangs in balance. His wife told me about a "wonder drug" that he used to consume from a local healer, for the fear of allopathy medications according to him can cause

Could it be your gut keeping you awake at night?

insulin
resistance
and glucose regulation. What we don’t fully understand yet is the role of the microbiome in sleep.”

Is sugar the world’s most popular drug?It eases pain, seems to be addictive and shows every sign of causing long-term health problems.
But we only know we’re consuming too much when we’re getting fatter or manifesting other symptoms of
insulin
resistance
and metabolic syndrome.
Insulin
resistance
is the fundamental defect present in type 2 diabetes, and perhaps obesity too.

Hypothyroid and diabetic type 1 very low seratonin
My twin sister went on to insulin about 12 months ago, since then she has continued to go down hill, she looks like death warmed up and I was convinced she had bipolar, she had all the symptoms. Why did the Endo not say anything about this, this has caused such distress to all her family and mother and
