The Bad Side Of UK National Healthcare
I believe in National Healthcare. People don't choose to get sick, but when they do become ill, healthcare should be available without sending a family into bankruptcy and homelessness. That being said, there is a dark underside to having bureaucrats and bean counters determine your medical treatment

Flare protocol, vs Covid sick day rules
Hi - I had Covid in July, but still not back to normal. just after the acute Covid phase, I went to 20 mgs and stepped down after 5 days. This brought an improvement (or coincided with one). Back to 7 mgs for a few weeks. but now getting repeated nasty surges of pain, nausea, weakness. I notice two recommended

Re Scottish autumn 2022 vaccine appointments
For any fellow Scots due an autumn/winter vaccine it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the Scottish appointments website vacs.nhs.scot My autumn/winter vaccines appointment has showed up there but I haven’t had any email this time and haven’t got my letter yet. My husband has been given an appointment

protecting against infection
Since I had my kidney transplant 2 years ago during Covid and I’m over 70 years old,I have had to be particularly careful about getting infections. Now that Covid is subsiding and people are going back to normal, I’m not sure how careful I need to continue to be. Before transplant, I had a robust immune

Does Covid boost ALS?
I'm W&W for 2 years. Abs lymphs (ALS) were 82K in July. Got 1st Evusheld 8/23. Got Covid 8/31 and started Paxlovid same day. 5 days later, 9/5, felt great then went on a vigorous 31 miles bike ride (probably too soon for such exercise). Then rebound on 9/12 with positive home test. Never got fever but

Covid booster?
After quite a few months without an AF episode I had my covid booster Sunday. Since then the episodes havent stopped although I dont think its totally down to that, they had started to creep in, usually around my eveni g meal. My dilemma is, do I report them as side affects to the Dr , the leaflet talks

Covid and EC
Hello all I wanted to ask people's experiences on how long they were advised to wait after having covid and starting a new EC cycle. My clinic said men need to wait 3 months as covid affects the sperm, but apparently not eggs. I had covid in July and it was really bad, had to stop treatment and now

Methotrexate, covid jab and naproxen
I'm due to start taking methotrexate in a couple of weeks when the consultant can organise my prescription. From what I've read here I think that you have to stop taking it to have a covid jab. Since I'll be called to have the jab soon anyway, would it make sense to try to get the jab earlier so that

Help with diagnosis (GP) and anyone sought help from private healthcare?
Hi, I recently learned about PA after googling my comprehensive blood test results recently. I joined the PA society this weekend and I have found myself here after chatting to a lovely lady in the helpdesk there. I am a wellness coach and have some knowledge of nutrition and improving resilience holistically

Evusheld not foolproof...be cautious still
I contracted Covid a few days ago after getting Evusheld twice... the last 300mg just about 2 weeks ago. I think one should not get complacent with Evusheld. It is not foolproof obviously and lessens severity I assume but does not prevent infection. I got Pavloxid which I suppose (lower dose because

Reaction to 4th covid vaccine (Moderna)
Just to say I had a 4th covid vaccination on Saturday (17 Sept) along with the flu jab, and today have woken up to a lupus flare - the first I have had in a long time. I take hydroxychloroquine and have prednisolone to hand for use during a flare, but have decided not take the steroids in case it interferes

Covid and flu vaccines
Managed to get both my Covid booster and seasonal flu vaccines today. They even had a large TV screen following the funeral.
