How I overcame IBS-D
Dear all, I periodically post this advice to help new-comers to the subject. I consider myself a recovered IBS-sufferer and so like to share what I learned. I hope that you are keeping sane during the lockdown! This is my general approach to help people understand and repair their gastro-intestinal

Angiotensin antihypertensives and COVID-19: No clear added risk nor protection.
Yesterday in a reply I raised the possibility of whether angiotensin-related anti-hypertensive drugs, ACE inhibitors or ARBs would have any protective effect on COVID-19 infectivity, having heard that the virus uses "ACE2" as a receptor. The current NEJM issue has an article summarizing this complex

Ibs d and not keeping well
So had a flare up last Sunday. Was feeling better in the week. But this Saturday got up with a doggy stomach again. Feeling so down and frustrated. Don’t know what to do. Had a good eight months before this with absolutely no problems. So frustrating. Also would like to know how do people who have to

I'm on a waiting list to see a gastro doc after having a very rough time for the last 2 years(since a horrible stomach bug). I've explained before but my issues worsened last year after taking two Flucloaxillin and ever since I've been a digestive mess. However, with 80% of my diet now low fodmap I believe

IBS D obsessed
Hi I have had IBS d for many years. I take Imodium daily just lately because most days I am in situations such as work meetings, places with no toilet or just worry that I will not reach a toilet due to previous attacks. The truth is though I may not actually need the Imodium as I haven’t had a bad attack

Nausea, Cramping & Diarrhoea
Although 14 months post op, but only out of hospital 7 months because of many complications resulting in 5 months ICU, my husband is still feeling nauseous every day & suffering cramping & diarrhoea most days after small meals. He was 14.5 stone before surgery & now 10 stone. The surgeon says this may

Low Dose Tetrahydrocannabinol and Melatonin for Better Sleep and Cognitive Function
Hello HealthUnlocked Members, I have been on ADT continuously since February 2016 and in general I have tolerated Lupron fairly well to date. The hot flashes have diminished in frequency and intensity over time and bone density is normal for my age (65 years). I have found that exercise, keeping cool

HAS ANYONE WITH PD HAD SPINAL CORD STIMULATOR IMPLANTED FOR POSTURE CORRECTION,PAIN MODULATION AND MOTOR FUNCTION?
Hi,friends, this procedure might be relatively new. I have read that it is similarly to DBS,but it targets the spinal cord instead of the brain.I was wondering,if anyone had this procedure done, please share your experience. How effective is it?Is it safer ,compared to DBS? Thanks in advance.

Preservatives and other ingredients in injections
Hi! I'm wondering if anyone has opinions about or has researched preferable preservatives/ingredients in injections. Poor response to medication
My specialist is not happy with my response to taking 10 Kinson per day, neither am I. He is sending me for an MRI of the brain, then I go into hospital, go off all Parkinson meds for 18 hours so he can see the results. He is considering me as a candidate for Deep Brain stimulation and this scares

Thyroid bloods
Hi Since 2002 My various GPs go through the ritual of insisting on an annual blood test and stopping my prescription until I have one. I've over replaced my thyroxine for all this time because I originally did not respond to thyroxine levels I was prescribed . Long story, but until I over replaced I

Salt
Apparently it is (or was, as of yesterday) National Salt Awareness Week, organised by some worthies known as 'Action On Salt' (http://www.actiononsalt.org.uk/), with the hashtag ''#eatlessalt'. If nothing else, the existence of such things probably tells you all you need to know about our unhealthy relationship

World Salt Awareness Week
Hi everyone, This week is
World Salt Awareness Week
and this years theme is hidden salt in our food. In the US 70% of salt comes from packaged prepared and restaurant foods so how do we know the salt content of meals eaten out and thats the biggest source of sodium in some peoples diets. Too
