The
ileostomy
is the worse thing and it does restrict me. Like everyone else I get frightened when I think of things but I suppose I am very lucky that I have lived so long after my first diagnosis. Has anyone else had the same sort of problems as me?

I had my
ileostomy
6 weeks ago and have been home for one month. The first two weeks of coming out were great as i had little pain at all. Then i stupidly go and push myself with a long walk and according to my doctor damaged some muscles and scar tissue.

Ileostomy soon....
Doctor is talking about an
ileostomy
and I am not sure what to think. Some positives and some negatives. Can't reverse the surgery so don't know how much more pain and meds I can take before I throw in the towel and do it. Any advice or personal stories when you were in my shoes is appreciated.

I also have an
ileostomy
(Stoma) which they believe have compounded my issues as the adhesions are stuck to my womb, ovaries and what's left of my small bowel. I'm coping okay with the side effects re: hot flushes but today I'm having quite heavy bleeding/cramps which are worse than ever.

Absorption of thyroxine
I have an
Ileostomy
and am wondering if anyone has heard or read anything regarding poor absorption of thyroxine with a stoma. I don't know where in the gut Thyroxine is absorbed but I know that some drugs are absorbed in the colon and since I dont have one this can sometimes be a problem.

DO NOT abandon hope if you have an 'ostomy.
Ulerative Colitis @ 15y >
Ileostomy
@ 19y - now aged 73y. I was advised* that those who still had a rectal stump (& anus) have a much increased risk of CA. My stump was removed @ 29y - There was no medical follow up about this risk (maybe there is now).

I have an
ileostomy
and find as I have type 2 diabetes controlled by insulin. I am suddenly putting on a lot of weight and wonder if that could be due to the pork ingredient. Also the
ileostomy
does not absorb /break down the capsules fully.

I have opted for an
ileostomy
for incontinence. It will at least give me control over the toilet visits and I can ditch the nappies! Be brave, you will be fine.

Hi, i desperately need help to loose weight. I had a temporary ileostomy after giving birth 2years ago, last year i had it reversed.
I have become attached to food since my illness. It makes me feel better if i am feeling off colour. I need to change this but the psychological affect of this leaves me dauntec and afraid. I don't know how to overcome my fears. I need the energy to look after 2 small children so i always turn to high
