Hi I'm new here I was diagnosed with stage 3 oc 2 weeks before Christmas I had an emergency ileostomy on Christmas Eve I have been on chemo ( carboplatin & paclitaxel ) and I am about to start Avastin so fingers crossed this helps me.

Thank you Alison I live in Weston super mare the picture of me was taken in Weymouth in February I had my wig on but it's too hot now so I'm walking around with very short grey hair 😞..I hope your new treatment is successful for you take care Xx

Hi Janice thanks for the reply I'm not brave enough or to vain not sure which to take my wig off and walk round like a scunk with my shirt black n grey mix! But there is one thing for sure anything is better than the bald look I hated it!! Xx

Hi, beautiful photo, I'm from Somerset too! Hope you're doing well, I had surgery at Musgrove Park Taunton and now having chemo at the MacMillan Unit in Yeovil hospital. This is a great group for sharing, asking and giving advice, just being here. take care

Thank you Clare I met a lovely lady today at clinic who told me about this group I can't believe how knowledgable everyone seems to be..I have been unable to have surgery the ct scans showed the tumours had reduced but when I had a laporoptomy to have a full hysterectomy remove my appendix debulking reversal of Stoma and to mend my hernia they discovered that the cancer in my stomach lining was stuck to other areas and it was too dangerous to proceed ... It was a big shock to wake up to !! But my positivity has slowly retuned . Take care nod I'm sure we will talk again.

Hi Janice - I was advised not to have surgery as planned after my first 3 chemos because of cancer stuck to other organs - disappointed at the time but in the long term it's worked out fine - I had 3 further chemos with added Avastin and am now on Avastin only. Currently 'no visible disease' and living pretty normally! Just a bit tired sometimes - have taken stock and just do the things I enjoy and that are good for me. Thank you, I know how you felt you sort of pin all your hopes on an op, I was very depressed but I'm a lot stronger now and I have a new plan so fingers crossed I'm so glad things are working for you and you are living pretty normal! Hopefully I will be there soon xx

Thanks, Janice. You will get there. I did a Penny Brohn UK (charity based in Bristol) 'Living well with the impact of cancer' course which I found very beneficial - diet, exercise, meditation, mindfulness etc. Worth a look at their website. Good luck!

Hi Janice and you are indeed very welcome to the site. There are fantastic people on here who will help you and support your as much as you want. So you are finished Chemo and starting on Avastin. I got good results with Avastin was on it every three weeks for about a year and a half. I am stable at the moment and got a little shrinkage as well. The side effects are miminal. Sinus issues sore nose but you can get nasal rinses to help this. You do get a certain amount of tiredness in no great pattern but you know when you have to rest. There are a few aches and pains but fairly manageable to be honest. I love that picture, it is so pretty

Thank you every one seem so positive I'm glad you got good results from Avastin fingers crossed I have the same results most people say they have had similar side effects as you so hopefully it won't be too bad I just want to do some normal things again instead of waiting for treatments ops or appointments!

Hi. I was diagnosed stage 4 July last year. I had to have emergency colostomy and only after further biopsies they diagnosed ovarian cancer. Which had spread to liver. I had 6 treatments of chemo. And now on avastin alone (7th ). Treatment gonna have 12 I felt quite alone not having debulking surgery because my scan showed Ned they thought better to leave alone. I had repeat scan 2 weeks ago and still Ned. Fabulous news but like sitting on time bomb. Anyway I now enjoying life as much as poss going on hol. Still get bit tired and few joint pains but can put up with that Avastin is a good drug with few side effects well worth having Good luck stay in touch PS do you have any problems with your stoma??

Hi I had an ileostomy and yes I do have problems I think I am trying my 5th style of bag I use barrier rings and flanges I went through a stage of a lot of leakages but I seem to be in control again the biggest problem I have is a Stoma hernia it is massive , I know this sounds daft but I have named my Stoma Poppy if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here today! So when I'm down or she is playing up I just think of that ... I'm a bit nervous about having Avastin and my chemo together as I have read some people be been quite ill for 2 weeks after but when they have Avastin on its own they are fine! I'm a bit naive what do you mean by Ned my cancer has spread to my stomach lining and it was this that had stuck to other parts . I think I need to ask a lot more questions and write things down ..Have you been abroad since diagnosed ?

Hi Janice like you I named my stoma Susie my first hol abroad going on a cruise to Norway. Did have a nice weekend away to get out of comfort zone with stoma it was fine NED means no evidence of disease, learnt that on this site. Good luck x

Hi Janice, just joined here ! So pleased I have... like you, stage 3 ov.. have Stoma also. Just completed 3 chemotherapies, and due for scan on Monday with a view to debulking.. so pleased I have read that it may not be doable due to it having spread, I imagined that as they suggested an op , they were pretty sure they could remove some cancer, clearly not always the case !! Love to chat more if that's ok ? It's nice to know we are not alone .. I was diagnosed originally with Diverticulitis, what a bloody shock when I was rushed in with a bowel blockage! Only to discover it was Ovarian cancer ! All happened in Aug this year.. Jackie
