Ileostomy

i have had 3 injections of adalimumab, have had rashes and allergy to ileostomy pouches. anyone experienced this ??

I am booked to have my ileostomy reversed next week, it will be 11 months since my debulking op. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of advice other than to expect to have diarrhoea initially and to stick with the low fibre diet to start with, introducing other things slowly.

I had an end ileostomy for 13 months.

Does anyone have an entirely happy life with their ileostomy? I'd be very grateful to hear from such people. Thank you.

Earlier this year I had a left hemicoletomy and ileostomy for bowel cancer. Over the past couple of months I have become thoroughly fatigued and have debilitating pains in my upper arm muscles and my thighs. So much so that I am unable to turn over in bed.

Had an appendectomy about a year later, because my appendix were stuck to my ileostomy scar internally. I had pain and went to the hospital, but my surgery wasn’t emergency. I was scheduled about two weeks later for the appendectomy.

I’m on Iv magnesium due to a high output ileostomy. I’ve had a lot of Iv fluids over the last few months and been quite unwell . I then developed what my gp has said is carpal tunnel in both wrists . I’m waiting for an appointment at the hospital.

I had a huge 12 hour surgery on my tummy at the end of September and have a high output ileostomy, which has resulted in me having to have Iv magnesium . I’ve been having lots of fluid in hospital admissions too. I had mild symptoms looking back.

Ileostomy formed 1996. 13 more surgeries have performed. Due to absorption problems, + major reactions to a lot of painkilling medication, my then Colorectal Surgeon, prescribed IM Pethidine for my abdo pain.

Gratefully, this one had actually read my chart before coming in the room and knew and believed my CKD was from ileostomy dehydration. It was the first time I didn't have to play, "educate the doctor." I usually have to explain the difference between an ileostomy and a colostomy and more.

I lost my colon in 1993 and have a high output ileostomy and frequent dehydration. I don't have any T2 side effects, no protein in my urine, glucose in good control. My current A1C isn't even in the T2 range anymore. I had to lose weight to get on the transplant list.

I hope that this finds you all well(ish) and happy 😀🙏 I’ve had my Ileostomy now for 16 yrs give or take 2 yrs when I had a reversal with a J-pouch formed. Unfortunately, after 18 months it failed and had to have a second Ileostomy form. Which was actually a relief.

It turns out I had ulcerative colitis which remained undiagnosed during my stay until I became so ill that I had to have emergency surgery leading me to have an ileostomy, so when I eventually came round after ICU I discovered I now have to poo in a bag. 🙁 Both times I was in ICU I suffered from delirium
