Ileostomy questions
When a person has
ileostomy
surgery to create a temporary loop or end
ileostomy
, does that person need to have a drain right after surgery? I don't even know if I would be getting an
ileostomy
or colostomy, the way the surgeon was speaking pointed to an
ileostomy
but I am still unsure.

I have had chemo , radical debulking and an
ileostomy
( but a tiny amount of tumour is left on the small intestine) , more chemo and now 3 weekly Avastin. My Ca125 is finally 139. I have stopped worrying about the Ca125 level and just concentrate and eating well and being positive .

Nutrition advice for autoimmune diseases
I have an
ileostomy
and short bowel. My question is what do you do use for better nutrition? I find that the NHS haven’t really helped me in this regard and I’m really struggling because my body is not getting what it needs to function. I now have epilepsy!! I don’t go out much and am weak.

For the last 6 months my wife has been applying an
ileostomy
bag over the 4cm opening to collect the exudate which she has to change on alternate days following cavity irrigation. We now found due to change in body shape we are unable to use the bags as they leak with hours of application.

Laparoscopy and bowel involvement
My endo specialist said it is gonna be quite a long surgery (3-4 hours) and there is a slight chance that I will get a temporary
ileostomy
. I am quite scared, and have an irrational fear of never waking up. Did any of you have this kind of surgery? How was your recovery time?

Have any of you had a temporary ileostomy which has relieved your pelvic pain?
One thing's for sure: something down there is not working as it should and I'm just wondering if any of you have had an
ileostomy
which has actually improved your quality of life and reduced your pain and suffering?

Hi. I'm new to forums and new to PMR and slightly shell shocked with my diagnosis.
My eldest daughter has ulcerative colitis and ended up in intensive care following an emergency resection of her bowel and has ended up with a permanent
ileostomy
. She is now well and healthy. Then covid hit and that has been very frightening and scary and incredibly hard work.

I was 63 when i had a non reversible
ileostomy

Anyone Working on Dialysis?
If I followed the CKD, diabetes and
ileostomy
diets I would only be allowed water and no food. That doesn't work too well. I am scared of dialysis. I would have to have hemo with some sort of port. My veins are so tiny they could never create a fistula.

Cosentyx side effects
I now have a permanent
ileostomy
and am a little worried about starting the treatment - tried Sulfasalazine last year and effects were a bit of a nightmare to put it mildly! Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
My legs have just got worse and worse, I was put on gabapentin for them, didn't work but still on them as I also have Crohn's Disease and an
ileostomy
, so the gabapentin helps with pain left from my operation but that was 4 years ago.

Thank you for all your replies and support after my bowel obstruction and addition of
ileostomy
bag. I’m home now and slowly recovering. I’m still trying to get my head round it and having quite a few blips here and there.

I do have B12 injections due to

B12 deficiency due to Ileostomy
I have an
ileostomy
due to major bowel surgery two years ago. Because of this I don’t absorb B12 and get an injection every three months! I don’t feel this is enough as after six weeks I start to get symptoms again! Anyone else in the same situation and how often do you get an injection!

Doctor refuses to give me VItamin B12 injections
I’ve had crohns for a long time and in 1996 I had and
ileostomy
and then a further two small bowel resections For the last 17 years I’ve had B12 injections every three months. I moved 180 miles away from my surgery where I used to go.
