anyone here have kidney failure due to ileostomy?

Hi, my name is Rayma. I have had an ileostomy Since 1981, but only recently 2005 developed CKD stage 5

Do they think the ileostomy caused the CKD? My Dr. are guessing that.

Yes. My kidney failure caused by kidneys shrinkIng due to malabsorption and I’m now on dialysis.

Tell me more....I have had an ileostomy (since 1981) and malabsorption syndrome. I lost one kidney to removal in 1988, damaged from Crohn’s disease fistulas attaching you it. Second kidney I found out in 2005 I had CKD stage 5. I was told at the time that I lost kidney function from daily Motrin use. I had been maintaining my gfr and creatinine until one year ago I got sunstroke from one day of 108 degrees. My gfr and creatinine plummeted. They never recovered, so I just started dialysis last Wednesday after fending it off for a year!!

I have a parastomal hernia and am prone to blockages. So I don't eat high fiber, vegetables, or fruits. The CKD diet says eat lots of veggies and I just can't. What do you eat?
