Hi, for me it depends on what and how much i eat or drink. But average anywhere from 1-3 hours for it to all be out so to speak. Hope this helps.

Hi Dogbot,

It's really variable, something liquid can be out in 30-40 minutes, less digestible food 4 hours or more. The more digestible foods (fats and protiens) may be completely absorbed. I find the more I am concentrating or exercising, the less 'active' my stoma seems to be, then when I relax, it starts up again. Also, if you eat, it stimulates the lower gut to empty so eating often stimulates activity. Also I find it slows down at night, often active in the first 1-2 hours then seems to stop until morning again. You will adjust to foods with time and also your stoma will work better at absorbing water. If you feel things are going through too fast, you can use loperamide to slow things. You can't get constipation so you can take up to 5 capsules 3 times daily.

Thank you Jane92 under doctors with the loperamide Iโ€™m on 6x 4 times a day with 2 Codine it has worked some but I have been a little unfortunate that I was rushed in for an emergency surgery for the bag in Liverpool while I was visiting friends then when I got home I was back into hospital within the month with sepsis when I finally got out a week later lockdown came and yesterday was the first time I had seen a consultant ๐Ÿ™ˆ,

So I have been left a little to my own devices my Stoma nurse has been great for what she can do but she and myself have not really wanted home visits because of COVID-19, just a little bad timing, then when I went to see the consultant the hospital had lost all my notes what little I had between Liverpool and My hospital so the poor guy couldnโ€™t do to much because he knows nothing about the past ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚.

But sorry about going on and once again thank you for the advice ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ.
