Vitamin pills
The
Hydroxycarbamide
made my haemoglobin drop so I am taking the iron. Some of these have made me feel a lot better already. Also healthy eating of course, very little sugar and caffeine, no dairy products. Good quality foods, organic. Lots of fruit and veg, some meat.

Affect of viruses and infection on platelets.
I have been researching different influences viruses etc can have on platelets and have found some very lengthy technical data on them. I wanted to know more as to why my platelets were increasing after I increased hydroxyurea and found there may have been a correlation with having the flu 1 month prior

My experience
I am currently using
hydroxycarbamide
(which has helped tremendously) but have now decided to make the transition to more natural remedies and readjusting my diet.

Advice Please
There are two points I need advice on, the first is regarding the liquid
Hydroxycarbamide
that has been recommended for me. I have been waiting for this since the 17th July when I last saw my haematologist.

Does anyone else with PV get achey thighs?
Just a quick query - I've been taking
hydroxycarbamide
(1.5g per day) and aspirin (75g per day) plus have had three venesections. All OK so far - platelets and white blood cells have decreased into the normal range, previously very high red cell count is now at the top end of normal.

SCD treatments.
As far as I know there is no cure for SCD. The Haematologists in the UK, try to manage the painful episodes with strong opioids e.g. OxyContin, morphine, Tramadol etc. They also try to keep you well hydrated with bags of saline and also increase your haemoglobin numbers by blood transfusions. My GP

Comparisons Please for PV Treatments
Has the frequency diminished with higher doses of
Hydroxycarbamide
? Do you feel less tired with having less frequent venosections? I'm just trying to get a sense of what I can expect in year to come.

Is massage ok with ET? Plus ITA's?
I have ET JAK2+ and platelets 488. Age 55 yrs. Clogged arteries in legs and family history of heart disease put me in high risk category so I'm taking aspirin and hydroxyurea, 1000 mg for 4 days, 500 mg for 3 days. Unsure if I am having ITA's as had panic attack on Friday, heart pumping fast, strong

Was it Haematology or Mythology?
I had my long waited for follow up visit to my haematologist earlier in the week. I thought I had prepared well for the consultation, in that I prepared a carefully written sheet of current symptoms and concerns, and also some questions that I wanted to ask. I was actually looking forward to the appointment

Newly diagnosed with two blood disorders
The Cll was to be a watch and see but for the PV
Hydroxycarbamide
was recommended. I have not started on the full treatment suggested by the specialist yet as I wanted more information, my GP had told me about the Cll but not the PV.
