Hydroxycarbamide

I am wondering if this is due to the illness progressing, the increase in the dosage and/or whether the composition of the Hydroxycarbamide has changed - the tablets are noticeably different in this current prescription.

Is it possible after 5 years on low dose 500 daily to become intolerant to Hydroxy? Platelets only down to 700s but am reluctant to increase while not feeling great. My GP thinks I have symptoms of anxiety but I also have an under active thyroid so it’s not clear cut. The thyroid issue is the reason

Hi Does anyone know if you are taking Hydroxycarbamide it is advisable not to take Ibuprofen or anti inflammatory I am thinking I have read this somewhere.

I presently take 1000mg hydroxycarbamide and 75mg aspirin daily. My platelets sit in the range 450 to520.

I’ve been taking Hydroxycarbamide for the past 2 years without any problems (2 x 500mg daily one morning and one evening) but for the last few days I’ve been experiencing diarrhoea and stomach cramps each afternoon after lunch (different everyday) So my question is can this happen after taking Hydroxycarbamide

HI all- I’ve been asked by my haematologist to switch from hydroxycarbamide to interfernon. I’m quite anxious due to the side effects as have tolerated hydroxy quite well. Is anyone else on inter and can help please

I have ET with Jak2 following an appointment with my haematologist on Monday, I am due to start Hydroxycarbamide 500mg on Monday, due to age as my platelets are only 786, the fatigue I have is already unbearable, would I be better to take at night or in the morning?

I was diagnosed with PV a year ago and was prescribed 1x500mg of Hydroxycarbamide daily. About 12 weeks ago, as my platelets were too high, I was told to take 2 at weekends. Today I was told my platelets were too low and to stop taking Hydroxycarbamide.

hi, I’m recently diagnosed with ET and on hydroxycarbamide. I’m travelling to the other side of the world for six months and will se doing it every year while I can. My question is regarding changing the times I take the meds. I was told to take it at the same time every day and with food.

Treatment for ET hydroxycarbamide responding well and platelets reduced from 1300 now down to 807 originally had steroids for crohns but will shortly be starting treatment with “biologics”after consultation between both consultants Haematology and gastroenterology .feeling rather anxious about starting
