High HDL v High LDL v Low Trig's
There are two studies that show high HDL is protective of heart disease even when LDL is elevated or Triglycerides are elevated (but not both). So if your HDL is good and your Trigs are low stop worrying. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4871717/ One guy has has offered £3k to antone who

Finger on the pulse
Hello, I’m new to the concept of a LCHF diet. My husband is not a great lover of meat so we tend to eat a lot of fish and veggies. How do pulses fit into the program? We have been eating kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils and haricot beans etc but I’m wondering whether we should? I would appreciate any

To Fat or not to Fat?
Hi, I have dieted on and off for years and have had the “Low Fat” is best message tattooed on my brain. However I know that thought on this are changing. With high cholesterol I thought reducing Lipids is a good idea by adopting low fat diet and exercising. I am aware of healthy fats such as nuts, oily

Role of dietary fibre on LCHF Diet
As followers of LCHF diet, we are sometimes concerned about reduced intake of dietary fibre. We take some supplements also to make-up the shortfall. Here is a presentation on the subject by Dr. Paul Mason, which I think may be of interest to group members following LCHF. https://youtu.be/xqUO4P9ADI0

HER MAJESTY'S DIET
Queen Elizabeth II is going to be 93 next month. Would you like to know one of the secrets of her excellent health and longevity? That is her diet! Her diet can be described broadly as LCHF. It is not by design but by default. In the main meals (Lunch and Dinner) , strictly NO STARCH - no pasta, rice

Does Losartan cause muscle and joint pain?
I was given Losartan 50 MG by my cardiologist and it did not seem to do anything so she increased it to 100 MG. She said she would rather max out the Losartan before adding another medication. The 100 MG did not seem to do much either as my BP was a little higher than I would like. I went back to her

LCHF saves the planet
Following on from the posts by Mike and S11m, here's my take on the ecological value of LCHF. While my title might be hyperbole, a low-carb, high-fat diet could dramatically improve end-to-end farming efficiency and make the world a slightly nicer place. Unless the politicians get their teeth into it

Damn the Torpedoes Part 2. Impact of exercise on a low calorie, LCHF diet.
Generally speaking, the average woman needs 2000 calories; men 2300. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll just use 2300, which will include basal metabolic requirements (just living breathing, repairing, digesting etc) and basic everyday mundane activity, but excludes exercise. We need 2300, but are

Damn the Torpedoes Part 1. Introduction.
Ok folks, on the back of my previous post here’s my program for the coming two or three weeks. This was to have been one long post, but as there is a lot of ground to cover, I will break it up into more manageable chunks. But before we go there here’s a little background. I am 69 years old, weigh 176

Help with timing of medication
Hi I always take my Levothyroxine, T3 and Bendroflumethiazide at the same time in the morning, between half an hour and an hour before a cup of tea. My question is should I continue to do this (have done this for years) or should I take the Bendroflumethiazide away from the Levo and T3 and if so what

Lipid panel says I reduced cholesterol from 320 to 171 in 6 weeks. Is that even possible?
My blood tests have always shown CHO on the high side but doctors have always told me not to worry about it because I was young (mid-30s) and otherwise healthy (175 lbs, 6 ft) and quite active, and my good CHO # was very high as well. But 6 weeks ago my Dr. was shocked to find that my CHO was ~325. He
