For info, I was also showing as pre diabetic and my total
cholesterol
was up, although the ratio between LDL and
HDL
was about 3.5. All bloods taken between 8.30 -9 am, no meds for 24 hrs and only water to drink before blood draw.

Low Testosterone Linked With Mortality Risk in Aging Men - by Jeff Minerd , Contributing Writer, MedPage Today May 13, 2024
No way to know if this is applicable to those on ADT, but it would seem to be relevant for consideration. The highlighted portion is a useful guide on male sex hormone targets for those testing them. These results might also add support for Morgentaler's "Saturation Model" for testosterone. Full

No health issues before diagnosis, now everything is a little scary
Sorry, I can’t give any current thyroid results as am on some medication for an abscess which affects blood results . Am still on 50mcg. Since diagnosis from scan initially last December I have been diagnosed with diabetes , which I’m not happy about really . I had one blood test which was 51, then given

Stopping ezetemibe
1 year post NSTEMI and stent and finally had a call from cardiologist. Basically all fine thankfully. They said I could stop ezetemibe but stay on 40mg atorvastatin. Bit confused as NHS website says ezetemibe is for life. My cholesterol numbers are good ( LDL 1, ratio 1.9, total 2.5, triglycerides 0.4

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started statins a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago. I started a 5 mg dose of simvastatin 15 months

BLOOD RESULTS - HELP PLEASE
GP didn't do a great job of translating. My learned friends can probably do much better: ESR 5.8 CRP 5.0 LDL 3.89 HDL 1.89 TC 6.3 (should the LDL and HDL not add up) Triglycerides 1.48 Glucose 5 My BP is controlled with meds. I do not want to go on a statin. She wants me on one. What do you all think

Hi, I have high HDL and normal LDL. Total levels over 6. Used to be very low cholesterol before half thyroidectomy over 15 years ago due to multi nodular goitre. Now on 75mg Levo. I am also type 2 diabetic for 30 years. Also low ferritin approx 30 despite taking iron daily. Recently given a statin

HDL cholesterol confusion
Hi - I'm overall very fit and healthy and do a lot of exercise (12 hours a week). I eat very healthily and limit alcohol to 14 units a week. I've just been told my HDL is very high even though my LDL is normal range. I've been advised to take "lifestyle changes" to lower my HDL. I'm really confused

Help with understanding these results
I have experienced more and more “ectopic” heartbeats (I have long standing paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, diagnosed 20+ years ago, as an accidental finding, and which has never bothered me until the last year or so) My total
cholesterol
is 6 mol/l, although I have healthy LDL/
HDL
levels.
