Psyllium husks - lower LDL
My
cholesterol
is very slightly above normal (total 5.2,
HDL
1.6, LDL 3.4, triglycerides 0.7). A heart scan showed some plaque on my LAD. The consultant wasn’t concerned but advised me to lower the LDL to below 2.6.

Please help me understand these results
The results of my last test and current
cholesterol
test results show my LDL
HDL
ratio is 3.3. But looks like everything is out of whack.. If I understand correctly. You are supposed to take the total
cholesterol
number and divide it by Your
HDL
Result and that is actually 5.0..

DIO2 gene test advice regarding T4/T3 levels
My latest
cholesterol
results are Serum 7.5,
HDL
2.2, LDL 5.3 and ratio 3.4. Would the addition of synthetic T3 help reduce my cholesterol level down ? Are my current T4/T3 levels acceptable or would it be a good idea to take the gene test?

Cholbiomex3
Has anybody taken Cholbiomex3 to reduce their cholesterol? It contains a probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum, Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) and red yeast rice rich in monacolin K. The reviews read very good although some folk had the same reactions as they did from statins due to the addition of monacolin

Is increasing my Levothyroxine safe?
I was diagnosed as having a 'borderline' underactive thyroid in July 2018. Initially I was prescribed 50mcg of Levothyroxine which was then increased to 75mcg following my first set of blood tests. My following TSH test result was 3.4 and I have been taking 75mcg ever since. Over the last year I have

Cholesterol test
Hi I get a yearly cholesterol / thyroid test as my mother had high levels and took statins and thyroxine. I’ve been ‘invited’ to go back and discuss my levels with my practice nurse after this year’s test which is not unusual. Since last year I have changed my diet and lost 16lbs but the letter also

Effect of rhTSH on Lipids.
We can speculate. If rising TSH causes total cholesterol, triglycerides and high density lipoprotein cholesterol all to rise, why is it OK for people to see their TSH allowed to reach 10.0 (or higher) before any treatment? (Of course, we also have all the questions over the real importance of cholesterol

Can cholesterol level be affected by thyroid?
Hi there 😊 If you have an under active thyroid can it affect your cholesterol level as I've always been fine but since being diagnosed my cholesterol level is slowly been increasing & I have now been told that I need to change my diet. I have also had to cut out gluten, is this all connected? Thank

Statins and PAF meds ... should I worry?
Hi, Wife has just had her annual blood test from GP which shows her cholesterol level as 5.4 mmol/L. This has been flagged as borderline and GP has recommended she goes on statins. She suffers from PAF, but has had no noticeable events since last August when they upped her Bisoprolol following a stay

Blood Test Results - What should I think?
Here they are: Triglycerides @ 3.01 LDL @ 1.1
HDL
@ 0.75 Serum
Cholesterol
@ 3.3 I am wondering if I really need to be on 80mg of statins? Can I have roast turkey with all the trimmings or am I looking at a chili non-carne (which is pretty good) for X-Mas lunch! All feedback welcome.

Introducing myself
I have only been dabbling in fasting a couple of weeks, but am seeking like minded souls for support. I am a menopausal woman. I had a health scare in January (I haven't decided whether I want to share that detail yet) and was discharged in May by my consultant who advised me on a few lifestyle changes

Interestingly, what put the final nail in the coffin was a series of scientific trials on drugs which either reduce total
cholesterol
(statins),reduced LDL (statins and PCSK9 inhibitors), or increase
HDL
(statins and niacin). All of them do exactly what they say on the tin.
