Hypothyroidism and high cholesterol
My doc finally agreed with me that there is some kind of connection between the two but denies that it's significant. Thus, even if I get exactly the right dosage of thyroxine, it won't significantly lower my cholesterol. I asked for a source on this but didn't get one. I have (or had) high cholesterol

So did I.......
Like RoloHipps, I too saw an Endo at the Countess of Chester Hospital, for the first time yesterday. (I,ve been Hyperthryroid for 11 years), and I have to admit, that having read on this site the problems or thoughts other Thyroid people have had with their Endocronologists, I was dubious as to what

My first statin.
Hello, I'm new to all this and still taking it all in. Last year I'd had a few symptoms I was sure that were due to stress, I was unhappy at work, being a single parent and juggling a 40hr a week job was wearing me down and my family had suffered a loss in the form of my uncle who had a stroke and

Nicotinic Acid
I was taking Tredaptive, Nicotinic Acid, until recently. I was informed by my GP that it has been withdrawn from the market. This was prescribed for my Familial Hyperlipidimia along with Atorvastatin. Since its withdrawal my cholestrol has risen by 20%. I have seen my consultant who has prescribed

I am 35 yrs old male, Smoked pack of 10 a day for about 20 years (since i left school), and i don't drink. I had a sharp left sided chest pain radiating to the jaw lasting 10 seconds and sharp pain to left arm. Initially associated with breathless and sweating. I did not have recent cough or fever

The Effect of Exercise on Cholesterol Levels
So after all the reregistrations and referrals (see my past blog posts), I finally reached the hospital lipid clinic about on time, a year after my last appointment at my previous clinic. I find hospitals profoundly irritating and badly-designed places and thanks in part to the confusing map they posted

Atorvastatin side effects?
I keep getting horrible headaches, mostly at the back of my head. And I'm always so tired! Thing is, I have familial high cholesterol that nothing but statins will bring down. I'm very active and have a low cholesterol diet, but still aged 20 my cholesterol was 11 until I started the statins. So my doctor

HALF WAY THROUGH THIS ARTICLE IS REFERENCE TO HEALTHY SATURATED FATS, WHICH I EAT IN GREAT QUANTITIES BEING ON PROTEIN DIET. I OFFSET THAT HIGH LEVEL BY INTAKE OF B3 (NIACIN) 5,000 MCGS P/D TO RAISE HDL LEVELS (NaturalNews.com) A primary cause of chronic illness for many people is systemic inflammation

Are Cholesterol lowering drinks, spread and milk any good?
My cholesterol level last October was 7.8 and the doctor wanted to put me on statins and aspirin (because of a slight amount of plaque on one artery) Since then I have been using cholesterol lowering Milk, Spread and Drink plus cutting down on fats and exercising more and last week at the pharmacy

Has anyone taken fish oils on prescription for high cholesterol?
Recent blood tests show my cholesterol to be over 8. The GP recommended I take statins to lower it but statins can have nasty side effects. Has anyone taken prescription fish oils to combat high cholesterol pr anything else that worked.

Cholesterol 7.5 and can't take medication.
My digestive system just won't cope with medication. My cholesterol is 7.5 and mostly the bad sort. The practice nurse says it is genetic and all I can do is eat lots of oily fish to build up the good cholesterol. I tried the fasting diet ( 500 calories 2 days a week). I only managed one day and don't
