Hi there I'm a 56 year old woman and have been treated for an under active thyroid for a decade or so. Currently taking 150 mcg Levothyroxine sodium per day. Around 8 weeks ago I started to experience some unusual symptoms; intense anxiety, fatigue, calf muscle twitches (and random twitching elsewhere

First Ever Prescribed Injection: My Thoughts
I had my first ever b12 injection at my GP a couple hours ago. The nurse asked which arm. I chose my right. It stung a bit, but not too bad. I was given a spot plaster and sent on my way. I’m not going to exaggerate and state that I feel a tangible difference, but I do feel somewhat more steadfast and

Blood test results advice
Hi I have untreated hypothyroidism/hashimoto's (with a goiter) and am feeling absolutely awful. I am tingling all over, am breathless sometimes, have hair loss, palpitations aching joints, and am very very tired. Also, I keep getting hot/sweating, which I understand isn't typical with Hypo symptoms

IFA negative, Low Active B12 - advice please.
Hi - a brief update and request for advice on B12. I have autoimmune hypothyroidism. Following a disappointing Endo appointment I wrote a detailed email to request an appointment with the Consultant as I felt I hadn’t had the chance to discuss my concerns properly with her junior. This was granted

dealing with iron deficiency anemia of chronic diseases and suspect a B12 deficiency too but I almost think my immune system has attacked something else, to the point that I have a whole nother level of Anemia’s … It’s been 6 weeks since I had my last iron infusion and I’m starting to feel really weak

is there a good time of day to take your b12 shot
So we have been given permission to do B12 shots at home combined with 200 mg ferrous sulphate and 20,000 of Vit D by our GP who will be doing further diagnostics in the mean time...the one thing I forgot to ask him is if there is a good time of day to take the B12 shots...morning, before bed, before

Iron Info Heme vs Non Heme
So, Heme iron is from animal sources and is apparently better absorbed than non Heme iron (from plant sources). The two different iron types are absorbed by different pathways. But, there are real risks in supplementing with Heme iron - Coronary Artery disease and Cancer incidence increases. I would

Preparing for antibodies test
Good morning, my GP has approved an antibodies test and a full blood count (the only 2 things that were missing from my last test on 3rd October). I’ve never had an antibody test before Am I okay taking b12 & b complex prior to both these tests or should I refrain until after? And should I

Hello, I have been reading the posts on this site for a few months and the information has been very beneficial. Thank you all! I stopped taking the prescribed daily dose of Ferrous Sulfate 325 mg 48 hours before getting the Iron lab test. Also, fasted before test and had done 1st thing in the morning

any higher strength iron glycinate supplements?
Hi, thanks in advance. My teenager is taking iron glycinate 27mg iron per tablet. I sourced this after the fumarate prescribed by GP seemed to be giving stomach pain. Current dose of 1 per day is maybe not sufficient to increase her ferritin. It was around 15 for several years (till I read up about

Good afternoon, I’m scheduled to meet a new oncology hematologist on Wednesday, September 7th. I would appreciate suggestions for questions. Background: I have Hashimoto’s and two thyroid cancers. Fortunately I have no evidence of disease (remission) at this time. I learned on August 4 that 55% of

Spacing between Peg injections
Hello, I’ve been on Peg for PV for 2 years. Now down to 45 mcg every two weeks. Platelets remain where my doc wants them (between 100 and 200). Despite PV, I have only ever had HCT at higher end of normal - never higher than that. Over last year, my lymphocytes have been a bit low but no cause for concern

Test results - can someone help?
Hi all, I had an iron test (fasted, no supplements for iron in months) and could do with some help, if anyone can? Iron: 36.1 (r5.8 - 34.5) Ferritin: 60.1 (r13 - 150) So my ferritin is a little low, but why then is the iron in my blood over the normal range? Should I be worried? I can't take supplements

Vertigo as a side effect of B12 injection?
Hello all, I have “spells” of vertigo which I usually chalk up to sinus congestion or chronic ear problems. I injected 2 days ago, not having had any vertigo prior for a few months. The vertigo started within 12 hours of the hydroxy injection and is quite severe now 48 hours later. Could this be a side

Taking B12 injections daily.
Hi Guys and Girls, This site has been a tremendous help and blessing for me and my GP, who knew little about PA. I am injecting 1ml of methylcobalamin EOD, I have been injecting since Nov. 2021, in the early days, I really didn’t know what I was doing and my GP knew less, I was injecting once a month
