dealing with iron deficiency anemia of chronic diseases and suspect a B12 deficiency too but I almost think my immune system has attacked something else, to the point that I have a whole nother level of Anemia’s … It’s been 6 weeks since I had my last iron infusion and I’m starting to feel really weak again, got an appointment to see my hematologist Wednesday so I’m gonna discuss B12 deficiency and the possibility of other autoimmune anemia’s

Yes good to get your b12 level and folate tested Vit D ect

Hello Ms. Bell, I was dx with low folic acid and just had a complete B panel lab test, waiting for the results. FA or VitB12 deficiency messes with your emotions, memory and more. Also, I know a folic acid deficiency will mask a low Vit. B12 deficiency, so have all your B vits tested. Also, be aware, Drs. know barely more than you do about vitamin deficiencies. One more tip. I was prescribed folic acid tablets, but no one mentioned to me that caffeine will not allow you to absorb the folic acid or vit12. I had no improvement since starting FA pills, then I did my own research, and bingo, if you drink coffee or tea the caffeine will prohibit the absorption of FA and B supplements. I stopped coffee, tea, and chocolate (at least until I'm better). Good book to suggest is "Could it be B12," by Sally M. Pacholok, R.N. and Jeffrey J. Stuart. Best of luck to you.
