I had my 2cd thoracentesis. It was more painful and for a very long time. They did drain a little more 950 ml. I am waiting for a thoracic surgery appointment. We will discuss possible placement of a pleural catheter for drainage, possible pleurodesis. And something new: turns out a lot of the chest

A Clinical Trial saved my Life ..12 years a Survivor of Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer, Stage 4.
When Alfred Samuels was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2012, it felt as if his world had fallen apart overnight. Doctors said surgery wasn’t an option for him because the cancer had spread beyond his prostate, and he started to lose hope. But then he joined a clinical trial and began treatment

Skin not adhered in one part
I have an issue with the skin just at the top of my shaft, in most places but this one the skin is not able to be moved down the shaft, whereas this one piece of skin appears to be loose and can be pulled back to show under the skin. It’s more noticeable now that I’ve had sex without a condom (it’s been

Frustrated, and left in limbo....
Tough times are here chez CB. Had a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (UK). No disability allowance for me. To be fair, I don't consider myself disabled, but .... well lets put it like this. My hands are swollen like two balloons. (pink floyd reference!) I can't cook (i haven't cooked

Can I have sex before a laparoscopy
Hi, I am having my laparoscopy on Tuesday and was wondering if anyone knew about being able to have sex before surgery? Is there a certain amount of time before that I should stop? Any answers for this would be amazing.

Finally spoken to endocrinologist 1st in 20+ years
Got to chat with the endocrinologist (not the one I'd hoped for after seeing list on Thyroid UK) I had to really concentrate as English not her 1st language but we managed to have an in depth chat over the phone. Anyway my doctor referred me as didn't want to put my levo up from 100 to 125mcg luckily

Thought it was a flare but......
Have been slow, fatigued, in increase pain and stiff over the last 3+ days. Have written to my rheumy asking for a more appropriate px. Didn't mention flare as I hadn't quite realised until yesterday. Increased my pred yesterday and today by 5mg (taking me to 15, she px'd me 9 back in December).

Lowered CA125 and a nugget of hope 🙏
After 2 chemo sessions of carbo & taxol plus Avastin, my blood test level has reduced from 750 to 586 which is the first positive news I have received since diagnosis mid December 👏 it has given me a huge boost! My CT scan is Tuesday 20 Feb to see if my huge mass has shrunk enough for surgery, if so

Update after finding out I have Chiari Malformation
Good morning lovely people, I hope you are all doing well? You were so supportive and kind to me when I last posted about finding out I had Chiari Malformation and didn’t have PMR. So, I thought I’d update on what has been going on since then. I went back to my GP and he has been so supportive and

Another Nebuliser question
Hi - I've been watching tthe discussions about nebulisers. For some time I have thought one might be helpful (COPD severe). My COPD team were fairly unhelpful but the respiritory nurse at my GP surgery as just prescribed some Salbutamol nebules. She is now away on holiday. I have bought myself a portable

Hello. I have MS for over 20 years. Medication has helped my symptoms. I recently fell and broke my left forearm. Had surgery and therapy. I feel awkward depending on people who want to help. This too shall pass but need to keep myself busy. I am unable to drive until my occupational therapist tells

MRI scan vs Transvaginal ultrasound
Hello, Hope everyone is doing well. I was diagnosed with deep invasive endometriosis in 2023 last year and I had a MRI scan done which showed that I had deep endometriosis at two places that was affecting my bowel, bladder and uterine fold. The solution given to me was having a surgery to resolve this

Test results
Hi everyone, I've received the following test results and have been advised to take statins. Do you think these results look like I could get my levels down with diet and exercise? My surgery obviously doesn't think so... Many thanks
