Alone and Surgery 03/01/2024
Hello All, I am 60 on the 1st January 2024 and I am having an upper lobectomy 2 days after. Cancer was picked up by the targeted lung cancer team initiative CT scan and confirmed by PET scan, luckily it seems to have been picked up early and not spread elsewhere I live alone and don't have a support

May be doing IV chemo for the first time. Need tips - really freaked out!
Hi, so I’ve successfully avoided doing IV chemo since 2019. But due to bone mets I just had hip surgery and the pills I’ve been on are not working. I was told by the surgeon 2 days ago that I need systemic treatment asap or I’ll die. I’m having a petscan tomorrow and depending on how it looks, I’ll

Recap and update
hi, Well today I had my scan results. Just to recap, I’m stage 4 snd IDS was not attempted due to significant disease remaining in mesentry. I’ve had 6 rounds of chemo now and was hoping to have debulking at this stage. However my MDT, having looked at scan have said no. I was still responding to treatment

Discharged at last!
At last I was discharged from hospital on Friday after 3 weeks . And now the stress begins. I called my GP surgery this morning to make a GP appointment. As usual my request is met with resistance. It seems my surgery does not accept advanced bookings to see the GP. I'll have to make and E consult.

Scared. Mind is racing. Mom needs heart surgery.
I've posted before kind of on this topic but since I've become more agoraphobic and neurotic and shut down and hiding in my house. My mom needs heart surgery. She is my best friend. She is 82. I am 47. I don't have a partner or kids. I have a brother. He helps sometimes but he isn't completely emotionally

You are all babies so far that I have read. My tumor was removed by surgery AN and they called it a schwannoma. But who knew from what I was told I don't think they knew much. It was taken in 1990, a large bugger that left me deaf, palsied, tinnitus, open eyed, and short of balance., Neeedless

Add back hrt with Zoladex
Hi all, just after a bit of support/others’ experiences… I had my 3rd Zoladex last week and over the last 2 weeks menopause symptoms (muscle/joint ache, severe fatigue, palpitations etc) have kicked me hard. Previously prescribed Tibolone but massive headaches middle of the night so I tried to persevere

Excision and bowel surgery
So I've had a private appointment recently at the endometriosis clinic (the NHS have failed me too many times) I'm booked in for excision surgery and the surgeon has suggested having the bowel surgeon there too to remove a 5cm nodule from my bowel. All I can say on the situation is , I am absolutely petrified

I am now 24 years out from my kidney transplant. I remember it as if it were yesterday! Getting the "call" at 2:30 AM and having to be at transplant center by 5:30...and then not taken to surgery till 3:00 PM. Had a lot of time to "stress out". Picture is of me hiking in Arches National Park in September

High cholesterol
I have recently signed up the Our Future Health programme. I was invited along for a blood test and a finger prick cholesterol test. The cholesterol result came back as 10.14 and I was told to go to my GP. I had a cholesterol blood test at my doctors surgery in July and it came back as 6.1. I thought

MRI on Monday
My first MRI taught me that I am not claustrophobic, LOL, but the noise really made me crazy! I think this will be the first MRI since I started Xeloda earlier this year. Cancer had stopped being E + and became triple negative, not good news at all. So, hopefully this will let me and my treatment

PMR, blood tests, when to seek a rheumatologist, TMJ
Hello, I seem to be having a bit of a bumpy ride since diagnosis of PMR and I’ve lost confidence in my current GP. Diagnosis in Feb ‘23 came from a young locum who seemed really switched on but sadly she’s no longer there. So, I’ve made a decision to pay to see a private rheumatologist at the Nuffield

Doxycycline, small clinical trial
A few months ago, Seasid posted a study on doxycyline, however it was all lab studies. This study is a small "open-window" trial on breast cancer patients indicating eradication of cancer stem cells by doxycycline, an antibiotic. 10.3389/fonc.2018.00452 Prostate and breast cancer have similarities
