Thought it was a flare but......

Have been slow, fatigued, in increase pain and stiff over the last 3+ days.

Have written to my rheumy asking for a more appropriate px. Didn't mention flare as I hadn't quite realised until yesterday.

Increased my pred yesterday and today by 5mg (taking me to 15, she px'd me 9 back in December).

I think the 5 yesterday has kicked in and I am far less fatigued, more able to complete some food prep for lunch and be proactive for the days ahead.

Here's the but;

I've had high BP (despite being regularly medicated for several years). Doctor px'd Amlodopine just over 1 month ago and as I left the surgery I remembered I'd had it before (many years ago) and suffered swollen ankles quite badly. He took me off and px'd an alternative.

Side effects of above include swollen ankles, muscle stiffness, unusual tiredness or weakness, shortness of breath.

My ankles have been swollen for several days now, yesterday was my worst day, I really felt unwell.

I have stopped the Amlodopine, have an appt with Dr for Tuesday and will be monitoring my BP over the weekend.

I always say look at any recent change in medication first! Strange isn't it - my daughter says amlodipine is used as it has so few adverse effects but I have heard SO many complain of badly swollen ankles.

"Alliteration's artful aid ..." But knowing that at SIX is definitely impressive!
