received text from my bp surgery to say my omeprazole has been stopped and I’ve been switched to lanzoprazole instead ? No idea why ? Maybe cost . Has this happened to anyone else ? Plus I’m now 5 weeks post stent and haven’t received cardiology follow up . Should I get this or is that it ? You just get on with it ? Have my first cardiac rehab next week , so maybe they’ll have the answers

Have you spoken to the surgery about the reason for the change in your statin? I read about availability being a problem with some meds.

Its good you are going to start rehab soon. I found the trainers very knowledgeable and helpful with my Cardio related questions. They also helped one time with liaising back to Hospital staff, when some of my symptoms needed checking.

Omeprazole and Lansoprazole aren’t statins, they are antacids to reduce acid levels in the stomach. Often used in conjunction with long term use of aspirin to prevent ulcers.

Sorry…my .very silly slip/mistake. But the same comments apply. Also, my various -prazoles were changed a few times to find one that suited, but never without discussion with me. Do ask.

Are you taking clopidogrel following your stents, if so Omeprozole is not compatible with it. I was changed from Omeprozole after my stent but lanzoprezole gave me very upset tummy so now on pantoprezole which I am fine on.

Hi Stent2024. Glad you're ok following having your stent fitted. I found no follow up after that either until Cardiac Rehab contacted me (they're brilliant) and they tried referring me back to a cardiologist. Other than that it was my gp, but you have to contact them I find these days.I was already on Lansaprazole and had it doubled after heart attack due to already being on clopidogrel but they added aspirin and bisoprolol hence the increase in lansaprazole.

I’m on bisoprolol and aspirin as well . I will try and have a word with someone today , even if it’s the pharmacist . Thank you

As others have said if you take clopidogrel there is an interaction with omeprazole and also esomeprazole, and so you should be prescribed another PPI should you need it. Prior to my one year on clopidogrel following an NSTEMI I was prescribed esomeprazole ( Nexium) for reflux disease, but this then was changed to lansoprazole which I continue to take.
