Damn the Torpedoes Part 1. Introduction.
Ok folks, on the back of my previous post here’s my program for the coming two or three weeks. This was to have been one long post, but as there is a lot of ground to cover, I will break it up into more manageable chunks. But before we go there here’s a little background. I am 69 years old, weigh 176

Help for itchy, dry skin.
My skin has always been very dry, but has changed over previous months, feeling much more dry and uncomfortable with patches of eczema developing. (Am hypothyroid). On friend's recommendation have been using Equimins Udder Cream - 1 kg Tub - Eqs0367. It's actually for horses but is a non-greasy

To Fat or not to Fat?
Hi, I have dieted on and off for years and have had the “Low Fat” is best message tattooed on my brain. However I know that thought on this are changing. With high cholesterol I thought reducing Lipids is a good idea by adopting low fat diet and exercising. I am aware of healthy fats such as nuts, oily

Bile acid malabsorption and weight gain?
This is ongoing weight gain that doesn't drop, regardless of gym,
diet
, etc (I've made changes to go
gluten
free
over recent months) As of December my thyroid normalised and I am still on 2.5mg of carbimazole a day. However I still suffered with weight gain and diarrhoea.

OMAD (One Meal A Day)
Outside of low carb, my focus for a while has been fasting. There is of course Michael Mosley and his '5:2 diet' and latterly his 'Fast 800' which are essentially fasting diets. This chimes with me for a couple of reasons. Firstly. My boys are 15 and 18. They are sick to the back teeth of me and my LCHF

Anyone ever had stomach acid from reflux enter their lungs?
Symptoms of reflux, chest 'fullness', gassy, bloated, having to eat a
gluten
free
diet
at the moment and I'm even having some problems eating some gluten free foods. I have a whole load of problems going on, I've been off work over 2 months but my main issue is still breathing issues.

Newbie to LCHF - feeling exhausted- is this normal???
Hello, after restarting here 2 weeks ago, in my second week, inspired by Binky68 I started LCHF and 16:8 fasting. Today, however, I have just slept nearly the whole afternoon and feel a bit low... is this normal? I read that some people feel flu like after a few days- does it stop quickly? I’m a teacher

People In Okinawa Live Longer Than Almost Anyone On Earth. Here’s What They Eat.
I know many here promote low carb diet so it will be somewhat controversial . Since I live in Japan and follow typical Japanese diet I wanted to share with you this article. BTW, I have PMR for 3 + years and with this diet I have not gain any weight at all. I know this will come as a surprise, Japanese

NEAD (Not Eating All Day) AKA Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is a safe, easy way to lose weight without counting calories. You can use IF as an initial methodology for weight loss, or you can switch to it - if what you are doing does not work, or has stopped working. With enough incentive or motivation (e.g. diabetes or cancer) you can

Damn the Torpedoes Part 2. Impact of exercise on a low calorie, LCHF diet.
Generally speaking, the average woman needs 2000 calories; men 2300. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll just use 2300, which will include basal metabolic requirements (just living breathing, repairing, digesting etc) and basic everyday mundane activity, but excludes exercise. We need 2300, but are

OPERATION NEXT WEEK
Hi everyone, I joined this forum in early January. i Have Polymyalgia Rheumatica and am on steroids for that. Compared to some on steroids I did quite well in only gaining a stone in three years, while ‘playing’ with low carb, but did not realise the significance of combining low carb with high fat

How I Conquered Heart-Disease and What I Have Learned in the Process
Before I relay the story, please read this first: What is the nature of your diet? Do you consume: - soft drinks, alcohol or fruit juices? If so, how often? - pasta, rice, bread, pizza, potatoes? - potato chips (crisps), pretzels, crackers? - fried foods (including fried eggs)? French fries? -

New to LCHF after years of being on WW diet
Hi Just a brief background on me, I was overweight as a teenager and I lost 2&1/2 stone with weight watchers, and maintained my weight. I was bullied for being overweight at school and a family member, so unfortunately, this memory is always at the back of my mind. Fast forward many years later I

Newbie here with questions
I have just been diagnosed with NASH and need to lose 130 pounds. I had lost 50 pounds on low carb and gained it all back feeling sorry for myself and other bad situations in my life. So hi all. My questions are about low-carb diet. It is the only way I have had success losing weight. Is that okay
