My mom had her endoscopy & CT scan done last week -some legions in the liver but yesterday night she vomited blood & is in hospital. .
Last year in April 2012 my mom underwent total gastrectomy. She lost around 10 kgs weight post operation but was doing okayuntil the last month. She has been complaining she doesn't feel like eating food but at the same time her stomach area or where her stomach was before the operation feels empty..

Looping Colon found during colonoscopy, but nothing else!
I had my colonoscopy and gastroscopy today having inexplicably losing 3 stones in weight. I had changed my diet due to bloating, diarrhea and pain. My GP suspected IBS but said the tests would clarify this. The result shows a looping colon and a hiatus hernia which apparently isn't an issue. The consultant

Does anyone of you has problems with ammonia levels?
Hello, I only got diagnosed with PBC a month ago and was started on Urso straight away and my LFT's started to improve drastically after that. However, they did check my ammonia levels as well and the first set which came back was high and because of that they did repeat them to see whether it was

Anyone heard of Barrett's Oesophagus disease
Life is sooooo wonderful insn't it. So it seems that to go with my IBS diagnosis I have now had an Gastroscopy which diagnosed this Barrett's Oesophagus disease. Does anyone else have this? is there a diet to follow to reduce the discomfort? is this even the right place to ask a question about it?

Off to have my 3rd Gastroscopy today
Having suffered with fibro and also ulcerative colitis/Crohn's disease, amongst other ailments, now today 2 days after seeing my consultant they want me to have another Gastroscopy! I'm thinking the worst as its all happening so quickly, but maybe it's gall stones. I'd be happy with that and not something

Do I really have IBS?
I suffer from awful bloating and burping which can go on for hours. Some nights it will wake me and then I have to sit up and wait for the pain and burping to settle. This has been going on for over a year. I finally saw my GP who sent me for a scan of my Gallbladder and then a Gastroscopy. Both came

Question for anyone with expertise in employment law or OH
Hi all I have a long history of bad blood with my employer's OH dept. Thirteen years in fact. Service failures and issues include a refusal from them to provide a reasonable adjustment under the equality act (10 years ago) which caused me physical injury. A grievance against them, subsequent attempts

Sedation and Throat Spray Sedation at Gastroscopy
Went in for a gastroscopy (a year earlier than planned due to having problems with my Barretts Oesophagus). The doctor doing the endoscopy injected me with 3mg of sedation along with 100mg of throat spray (which made me gag due to the taste and made my throat have a burning sensation). At the time I

B12 supplements
Hi all Every three months I go to my GP to have a B12 injection, as following a total gastrectomy and no stomach the body is unable to convert B12. However, just noticed an ad for Methyl B-!2 lozenges which dissolve under the tongue, entering the blood stream direct, not via the digestive system

Should i have gastroscopy and colonoscopy? What value will they add, given poor standard of NHS 'treatment'?
Hi all Have asked on coeliac forum, but wanted views from 'thyroid people' too: I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditus, Pernicious Anaemia, achlorydia, neutropaenia, iron def anaemia - i manage all these myself as NHS will either not prescribe what i need, or not in sufficient doses. I am alot better

Does anorexia only get managed not cured
I became anorexic late on in life at my worst about 4 years ago.. I finally got help and slowly over about a year working with a dietician I gained weight. The last year I've had stomach trouble and well as acute mental health probs. I had a gastroscopy to look inside my stomach and it found nothing.

Where are the hospital gowns?
Hi - I was very surprised yesterday that I didnt have to change into a hospital gown for the Gastroscopy! I kept all my ordinary clothes on. When I had a barium swallow recently, I had to change into a gown. I wonder if it's the new way of doing things? I would have thought a gown would have been appropriate
