Confused about Barrett's 'disappearance'!?
Had a god awful gastroscopy yesterday and was very surprised that the nurse failed to find the 1cm Barrett's Oesophagus and dyplasia I was diagnosed with 6 years ago ( a sample was taken on that occasion and sent to the lab for testing ). Are there any recorded instances of Barrett's disappearing? I've

Urgent advice please re; gastroscopy throat spray
I have a severe reaction to novacaine but I'm okay with the local the dentist uses for heart patients, apparently it's the adrenaline that causes the swelling, palpitations and shakes. Just rang the endoscopy unit and no one knows if the throat spray for my gastroscopy contains adrenaline or not and

Smaller pancreas than normal
Hi, my thoracic surgeon advised me yesterday that my pancreas is smaller than normal. I had total gastrectomy 6 months ago and I have been having some pain after eating. Does anyone know if I am not producing enough enzymes, causing issues to gain weight?

Treatment With Intramuscular Levothyroxine in Refractory Hypothyroidism
Given the regular appearance of patients who appear unable to tolerate levothyroxine, I thought this paper had the potential to be very interesting. And indeed the abstract is fascinating - as far as it goes. The full paper will be accessible in PubMed Central from 01/06/2020. [i]Eur Thyroid J, 8 (

Sotalol side effects
I've had both SVT and AF ablation's. The SVT was from just after I had my first child and was severe. The ablation for that took and I was put on Verapemil (sp?) I had no further SVT and all was well. Then after 30 years I began 11 years of hell that brought me here: total gastrectomy; followed 3 years

Everything but laporoscopy
Hi guys, This is my first time posting on here! Basically I have all the symptoms of endo and it’s just getting worse and more unbearable. However, I’m terrified of surgery and the thought of a negative laporoscopy is honestly the worst thing ever! So far I have only had transvaginal ultra sounds which

Total gastrectomy medication
I had a total gastrectomy 7.5 years ago and have suffered with swallowing issues ever since plus bile reflux. I take Omeprazol 2 x 20mg daily and Domperidone 3 x 10mg daily to supposedly help keep the bile down. With this medication I continue to have bad bouts of reflux during the day, not so much

How manage weight loss after Total Gastrectomy
My husband recently suffered radical surgery to remove all his stomach and half his esophagus due to cancer. (Roux en Y) He is almost 3 months post op, taking creon 3 times a day, and doing good morale wise. However, we cannot manage to put a stop to the weight loss. His medical team was only able to

Side-effects of Omeprazole
Hi, you lot! I was prescribed Omeprazole in December after a gastroscopy and continued it during a hospital stay (AKI, ascites, liver stuff). Received no diagnosis in the two weeks and was discharged in to the care of my GP. He diagnosed a chest infection and pretty severe anaemia. So that was the hospital

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Has anyone had a gastroscopy before?
Hi all, Long time no see! Over the last 2 weeks I have had horrible acid reflux and heartburn. Everyday I've had pain in my chest, indigestion or acid in my throat. I'm at a point where my throat becomes so sore during the day because of damage from the acid. I've scheduled a doctors appointment for

Omezaprole or not?

BIG thank you too all those who replied to my posts on my apprehension about gastroscopy and stress echo
Really pleased to say I didn't exactly sail through both procedures but they were very tolerable. With the gastroscopy, as a laryngectomee, I decided not to have any sedation or spray which was in agreement with the consultant. I cannot praise the consultant and her endoscopy team enough. And lots of

Folate deficiency at 24 years old?
Hi. For the past two years I have been with a heamotologist because of my folic acid and b12 deficiency. I have had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy recently and all normal and negative for celiac disease. I don’t know what is causing this. I eat healthily. I keep having to have tablets and injections
