Hi
I had a "minor" blood-in-stool episode, and while the doctor advises that it may be a one off (no further visible symptoms) but is going to seek further advice, I wondered if anyone here has had a similar experience.
This followed a spasm- attack late the previous night. I get these from time to time, hoizontal bad pain right across abdomen above the belly button, curled up on the floor waiting for next diarrhea attack (it hurts less like that), takes about 20-30 minutes and at least 3 attacks to play out and is very painful. Then it normally goes away until next time, leaving me feel like Ive been scorched amidships.
I noted this time a bit of "pink" in the diarrhea and didn't think too much of it. The following morning however there were definitely what looked like some ragged blood clots in the output.
That didn't happen again, and things seemed to normalise, though the "scorched feeling amidships" continued low level for 2 or 3 days which doesn't usually happen.
I looked up "blood in stool" as I know it's not a great thing to have, it can be caused by lots of things, about half of them I know I don't have. (Which I told me doc.)
I know there's a small polyp somewhere not very far up, but I don't think that's the culprit as if it was, why would it hurt higher up? Doc says we might get it removed. I have mixed feelings about that for historical reasons. I had a gastroscopy (again historical reasons) back in Feb 2019, with a clean bill of health apart from one small polyp which they removed.
I thought/hoped it might be a reaction to an antibiotic I was taking, as some of those can cause gastrointestial upsets, but I gather that's quite common and it's mainly just D, not bleeding, unless you already have a condition. Also this was right in the middle of the course, and didn't happen before or after.
Thanks for any insight any one can give.
