Waiting on bypass surgery very anxious
Hi I was diagnosed with heart disease and need triple bypass. Most worrying thing is that due to varicose veins in both legs I have been referred to professor al attar at Goode jubilee Glasgow as he specialises on bypass surgery not using leg veins. As I understand it he will rewire mammary veins. My

Fluid on the lungs
Hi everyone My Mum had a chest X-ray last week and it has shown that she has a small about of fluid on her lung, she recently had triple heart bypass surgery and apparently this is common after surgery. Has anyone got/has this problem? I’m trying to gather as much information as I can about it. Thank

Loss of Appetite and nausea
Hello I'm hoping someone can help, my husband had a triple heart bypass 5 weeks ago following a heart attack, he's progressing well apart from loss of appetite, nausea and occasionally vomiting, he's seen his GP who says its just side effects from all the medication but he's reluctant to change any until

Meeting my Surgeon tomorrow..
The day has finally arrived when I will meet the guy who is going to be doing my CABG. I have heard so many positive things from people on this forum about James Cook Hospital and the care given to patients. I know that the surgery will happen very quickly as the waiting lists are short. To tell you

Angina?
Hi, I am seeking some advice required from those who have had CABG. I had surgery about 15 months ago. all seemingly going swimmingly until about two weeks ago, when I started to experience discomfort in my left arm, akin to what I suffered pre-heart attack and surgery. Ache, and heaviness in my chest

Bypass scar and mammogram
Hi all sorry I have been missing in action. I seem to be back to living my life and in some ways it is hard to think that 7 months ago I had my bypass surgery, I have decided that 2018 is the year to start again. I have put on loads of weight, there are several reasons for this and I won't bore you just

So I reached the 6 month anniversary of my CABG this month and I was glad to see it. Followed shortly after by my 48th birthday, again something I was glad to see. But things are still not great, still dealing with ectopic beats, some days worse than others. The last couple of weeks if been getting occasional

Mum's triple heart bypass surgery
Hi all My Mum had a triple heart bypass 6 weeks ago tomorrow and is still getting a lot of pain in her chest. She was taken by ambulance yesterday from her doctors surgery as they though she might have had an angina attack, it turns out that she didn't and the pain could possibly be her chest healing

My friend had undergone
gastric
bypass
surgery and was pleased with the results, so I decided to try it, too. The procedure reduces the size of the stomach, so patients feel full more quickly and eat less food. The surgery is expensive — and it’s risky in some cases.

Bariatric surgery refugee here...
So I attended my nearest bariatric specialist hospital and was given detailed information about the three procedures available -
gastric
band, sleeve surgery and
gastric
bypass
- and told about the lifestyle changes required with each as well as the attendant risks.
