I want to self inject.

Hello everyone, I’m very new to the sight and have had PA for just over 3 years. I bought myself a gastric band and although losing 8 stone I have unfortunately got PA.

I really would like to to self inject but I don’t know where to start! I currently have injections every 10 weeks, but just feel awful. I’m losing my mind, making my family unhappy due to my moods and the foggy brain is affecting my job.

I literally don’t know where to buy injections, what size needles and dose, how do I get rid of the sharps box when filled? All these questions.

Any help welcome. Thank you in advance

Kerrie

You didn’t say where you were - I assume UK . You can get B12 Hydroxocobalamin anpoules from German online pharmacies . They are very reliable and strictly controlled by the German Health aithorities . Go to

versandapo.de in English

You will get on their site in English . If you accidentally get into the German site , scroll ( don’t know it it’s up or down) and click on the Union Jack 🇬🇧 to get to the site in English . You will have to register for the first time of purchasing.

Search for Hydroxocobalamin. A drop-down list appears. Click on “Hydroxocobalamin acetat” , and the choice appears . I always buy 100 at a time as I inject weekly and the use-by date is about 2 1/2 years ahead .This is the most economical .Hou can inject with 1mg in 1ml ampoule or 1mg in 2ml ampoule .It doesn’t matter which . I use Rotexmedica 1mg/ 1ml . 100 cost €52.90 courier €9.00. Courier costs are the same no matter how many you order . You can pay with a card or Paypal . You can buy 10 or multiples thereof .

I inject into my thighs using the outer middle third , where the muscle is nearest the surface .look at some videos in utube -some are good , some not so . I alternate thighs each time

Needles , syringes swabs and sharps box from Medisave .uk.

I inject I.M. using 1inch x 25 gauge needle .( really fine) To withdraw B12 I use a @ 1 1/2 “ needle , which obviously gets blunted .

2ml syringe .

Local chemists accept the full box for disposal , but I phoned the first time to make sure .

Some people inject sub-cutaneously , but I know nothing about that

Hope that this helps .

I've used both these pharmacies ( Versandapo.de slightly cheaper on delivery ).

versandapo.de/article/detai...

mycare.de/

Search for 'hydroxocobalamin' and select: B12 DEPOT ROTEXMEDICA (10x1ml) or (100x1ml)

Easy to pay through PayPal.

Keep in a cool, dark place until ready to use.

.............

Syringes, needles, sterile wipes and Sharps boxes from:

medisave.co.uk/consumab :

BD Plastipak 2ml syringes

TErumo Agani 21G x 1 1/2 " green needles to draw the solution up into the syringe

BD Microlance 23g x 1.25 "Blue needles for the IM injection

or

BD Microlance 26G x 3/8" Brown needles for sub cut

...........

Warm up the ampoule of B12 to body temperature and Inject slowly.

(I use the wipe to break the ampoule at the white dot to keep the top sterile and avoid cutting fingers)

Instructions for IM injections:

nursingtimes.net/clinical-a...

Sub cut:

cc.nih.gov/ccc/patient_...

Good luck Kerrie, you will find it very easy after a while and such a relief not to have to rely on stressful encounters with medics.

PS. local council collects the full Sharp's box
