Long recovery
Hi, I’m new here. I’m still struggling after bypass surgery 14 months ago. A lot of chest pain and ankle still a bit swollen. I expected to be back to normal by now and don’t understand why I’m not. Have some ok days but still not able to pick up grandchild or run. Anyone else out there had this problem

Merry Xmas from within the NHS
I have been waiting for heart surgery since the beginning of the pandemic Two days before Xmas I have two heart attacks - seems that’s the way to speed things up. Xmas dinner was courtesy of the NHS - I have eaten worse however Santa did come and each of us ladies on the ward received a gift. I will

Positive Attitude
Hello I just wrote this in response to a question on another thread thought it may be useful on here !! What changes did you make after a heart Attack in 1982 ?? Well I stopped Smoking, Lost a few pounds but also gained a few £s with not smoking !! I think to some extent it was the positive attitude

Cardio rehab
I would definitely recommend cardio rehab. I had CABG and Mitral valve repair done in 2017. Found motivation really difficult at home and had a delay starting rehab due to arythmia. When I finally started, although the activity did seem really slow, the fact that I had a focus for 6 weeks was very important

Advice, encouragement, sharing
I seemed to be a fit 60 year old cycling 20k every other day and going for 2/3 hour walks in the weekend, until climbing hills became more difficult and the chest/stomach pains started. Within 2 months I was not able to walk to the end of the road anymore. An angiogram showed 5 blockages and I had an

Just placed on Entresto
Really interesting reading your replies. I have just been advised to go on to Entresto lower dose am and higher dose pm. This was due to low BP readings under 100. Will know my blood test results soon to decide whether I can tolerate higher dose twice a day. I have had a CABG and mitral valve repair

No sleep after bypass surgery
Hi All, my partner finally had his triple bypass surgery last Thursday and got home on Tuesday. Everything has gone really well with the operation and he is managing his pain well but still quite breathless which will improve they say. The thing that is really getting to him is that he just can't sleep

Yes I will have the vaccination
Re Vaccination If I had seen the video of a heart bypass before my op I honestly doubt if I could have got through . I therefore preferred to put my head in the sand and let them get on with it. It will be the same with this vaccination. I would rather that than dying slowly of something I knew I could

Parkinsons & Bypass surgery
Hi there, Is there anyone on this group who has Parkinsons and had a Bypass surgery? I am trying to understand what are the set backs post surgery. Mum has been put on Bisoprolol & Atorvastatin in the run up to surgery but one of the medication is causing alot of muscle pain, stiffness and swollen. Anyone

Trans Apical TAVI op done and dusted at last!
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I've been out of hospital for a week now, after waiting 13 months and two cancellations for an urgent aortic valve replacement. Stiches due out tomorrow. I'm especially grateful to Tessie28 who warned me that even though the op is termed 'key hole' it is still

Covid for Christmas
Hi All, Posted two days ago about really feeling the cold post CABG (my op 10 months ago) and it making my chest ache and hurt. Well, it may also be hurting due to having just tested +ve for Covid. Seems Santa put me on the naughty list! Not felt too bad, just generally crummy the last few days but
