This is a question is for all the ladies who have had a heart bypass. I am frequently asked how painful the procedure was. Well I had my first child over 50 years ago ( not by Caesarian ) and if I could compare I would say child birth was by far the most painful. It is something still in my mind now . I’m not saying the heart bypass was not painful but I have largely forgotten the pain and discomfort of the procedure. I know the after surgery was sometimes horrible and very stressful but the actual pain which was well controlled was not comparable to first child birth . I wonder how the rest of you felt

Measuring pain
Good morning Pollypuss,
I had my surgery 4 years ago Aortic valve replaced and bypass at the age of 68, I can honestly say had very little pain, just controlled with paracetamol. I had the feeling of someone pulling an Elastoplast off where they harvested my artery from. They took it from my mammary gland, when I saw my surgeon for my post op check he explained that when they take the artery they rip it out! So theses sharp pains was the nerves trying to join up and sometimes getting it wrong! He said it would take 18 months to settle and he was right on the money.
As for comparing the pain to child birth, thank goodness for gas and air😂
Hope you are doing well.
Pauline
I know it is for the ladies, but just for the record ‘MAN FLU’ is much MUCH WORSE 🤣
