Peak Peak Flow
I've spent May and June having one flare-up after another... four weeks on prednisolone and, once I'd weaned off it, I had another bout of asthma... So now my dr has referred me (which will take months for the appt to come through) and recommended that I up my Symbicort to 8 puffs daily then gradually

PeakFlow Readings
My peak flow readings never seem to change and I’m a little confused. My last one recorded at my GP surgery was 290, My dr wanted me to monitor my peak flow readings. There currently between 350-250. I currently have a Salbutamol inhaler a Fostair Inhaler and Montelukast daily. I’m not noticing much

Do breathing exercises help increase lung capacity?
Hi Everyone, I am sufferer of asthma, and it has been brought to my attention whether the effectiveness of specific breathing techniques could assist in increasing lung capacity. I have found that healthcare professionals and asthmatic sufferers have different opinions and scientific evidence from

Covid?
Hello everyone, About 5 weeks ago I came down with Covid. Seemed to get through it ok, but about a week after my asthma starting playing up. Symptoms are breathlessness mainly at night, mucus of chest that’s hard to cough up, tight chest which relieves when taken inhalers. Spo2 is around 97% slightly

My First Shopping Trip
Well, my mobility scooter let me do my first supermarket shopping trip! Was so lovely to browse for stuff, vs looking at it on a computer screen. I also bought a peak flow meter, so I could test my lung function out, and to my suprise, its scored 500-600, which is really good for me!! I'm very tall,

Iodine deficiency in pregnancy along a concentration gradient is associated with increased severity of preeclampsia in rural Eastern Cape
I'm sure everyone who has ever been involved with pregnancy has heard about the dreaded pre-eclampsia. Just the thing to get midwives (and mothers-to-be) worrying. Would be rather excellent if this paper represents a significant step towards understand the issue. [i]2022 Feb 4;22(1):98. doi: 10.1186

Tight chest, confusing Asthma like symptoms
Hi all, I had asthma as a child and practically grew out of it as an adult or rather it became very mild. I've always had a blue inhaler but would use it very infrequently. Around christmas time this year I caught a cold which then turned into a chest infection (numerous negative lateral flow covid tests

Switch from Seretide to Fostair 100/6
Have other people had problems when switching from Seretide (which was very successful for me) to Fostair 100/6. I am finding it less effective and peak flow has fallen by about 20%

Shortness of Breath
I had pneumonia in October 2021, and since then I've noticed I've had a real problem with chest tightness and shortness of breath. It's usually when I am talking/walking. It comes and goes usually based on reliever inhaler use. My reliever inhaler is usually working for for good few hours but then the

Covid
I have been really careful and managed not to get COVID until yesterday. I have a dreadful cold like symptoms all in my head, I have asthma but normally no wheeze. Since my symptoms have started I am wheezing now. I use Fostair and blue reliever. I haven't done a peak flow check yet, but I will start

Shortness of breath/breathing issues PV
Hi everyone. I am waiting on more tests to confirm Polycythemia Vera. I see from all my research a symptom is breathing issues. Over 20 years ago I was diagnosed with asthma and use preventative and Ventolin. I have always felt this is not asthma, peak flow is perfect and know what asthma looks like

This is the third cough/ virus/ infection since November and they have knocked me for 6. Any advice?
Hi there. I am new to the site and consider myself to be healthy, but unlucky when it comes to illness. I was asthmatic as a child, spending time in hospital when I was very young, which was horrid. Anyway, over time asthma seemed to disappear and I went without use or need of an inhaler from my 20s
